I had my 37 week exam yesterday and my doctor told me that I was one centimeter dialeted and she could feel my bag of waters. She also said the babies head was RIGHT there. I am 37 week and 2 days pregnant with my first, could I possible go into labor this soon! Has anyone been the a similiar situation? Thanks!

What can I do next?

On my 36 week exam I was 2 centimeters dialated and 70% effaced. The doctor told me that he was touching the babies head. I didn't have my son until 2 days before my due date. So you could go soon or it could still be a little while. Good Luck!!

I had my daughter right on her delivery date but I had labor pains for 3 days. When I got to the hospital I was 4 cent. Many babies are born before their due date and many many are really healthy. I one thing that really took us for a loop is that we werent ready .. well as ready as we thought we were. I was released one day before my daughter and we spent no time sleeping instead we were getting stuff all together. You think that you are prepared but man we forgot so many little things. Also take this time to take naps and to relax, the more you are rested the better you will feel. TAKE NAPS! They are great when you are that far along.

It's not unusual to go at this time.....37 weeks is actually full-term. I had my daughter at 36 weeks (I was induced becasue I became pre-eclamptic), and I went into labor naturally with my son at 38 weeks. Good luck & don't be nervous. Congratulations =)

That is completely normal.....I had my son at 36 1/2 weeks I was not expecting it but, I went into labor march 12 and had him in 1 hour(6 pounds 1 oz and very normal). He is a beautiful young man now (10 yrs) and 5 foot 2 inches.... So everything is going to be fine....you will have a beautiful healthy baby even though your 37 weeks....

This is normal,to me i allways considered this part lucky, because your starting to dialate now,to me means the less you have to wait to get to 10 centimeters & the less time having labor pains to finally push! let it happen dont worry, and yes somtimes the little one wont stay up their untill the due date, their to nosy to wait. You'll be fine. good luck from me mother of 5.(your lucky!2 of mine stayed up their 9 days pass due date and the other 12 days pass due date untill my doc kept naggin me to be induced! (lol)

Hi R.,
You can have your baby at any time. I had both of my babies at 37 weeks, my fist baby is 7 years old and my second is 1 years old. Yes they are 6 years apart. Do not be scared its going to be all right.

Hi R.,
Congratulations! My doctors told me the baby's head was "right there" weeks before I went into labor. My water broke when I was 38 weeks and 2 days. My daughter was 6# 13 oz. and has been perfectly healthy! My labor went off without a hitch! Don't worry, as far as the doctor's are concerned, you're full term. Blessings to you and your new baby!

Yes, you can go into labor any day nor. Or, it may still be a few weeks away. I was 2 centimeters with the baby's head down really low and I stayed that way for about 3 weeks. I went into labor exactly one week before my due date. And my mucus plug came out little by little. Kind of gross, I know. But hey, my baby is healthy and beautiful. Just make sure your bag is packed and ready to go! God bless. :)

Hi R. my name is K. I have a two year little girl. It is normal to be dialeted at 37 weeks cuz when I was about 38 weeks pregnant I was dialeted to 2 centimeters and I was 10% effaced and I ended up having her 4 days after my due date. So unless you have labor pains I dont think you have anything to worry about. Well take care and good luck with the little one.

Baby could come tomarrow, or in a few weeks.I am sorry to tell you that it may become a tad uncomfortable in the next few weeks, and you may find yourself in the hosp and then being sent home quite a bit.Be prepared.Did your mucas plug come out yet?Do you know if it did?

Hi R.,

Congrats first of all. I was 2 cent. dilated at 37 weeks and the doctor said wow I can feel her head and she is ready and you can go into labor anyday--I started to prepare thinking its going to be anyday, well she ended up being a week late and I had to be induced so you can never predict when he/she is coming out into the world. Just take it easy and relax and let it take its course. C.

Yes you can go to labor that soon. 37 weeks is not too early, now i had my daughter at 39 weeks that wasn't early, anything that is before 35 weeks is kind of early. Girl your baby is ready to come out. I just want to know why the doctor didnt keep you your baby is ready to come out. That must be real uncomfortable to you. Here I am 26 weeks pregnant and my baby feels like he wants to come out. This is going to be my third child and third c-section, so i never had a natural birth, adn never will get a chance to expericene one either. i wish you the best and congrats to you. Raising a baby is so hard but very fun

It's not too early. I was praying to go at 37 weeks! It would be safe/healthy for the baby to come out now. BUT, I also wouldn't keep your hopes too high. Like another lady said, I was dialted at 3 centimeters for 2 weeks before mine decided to come out into the world. Congratulations, and good luck with the little one...enjoy!

Like everyone else said, yea, you could go into labor anytime. You could also not do anything for a while. The encouraging thing is you are making progress toward labor. Don't get frustrated, but be ready to go!

Congratulations!

Congratulations! It's a wonderful ride. Once you are past 36 wks, you are considered full term(older sis is an OB nurse). When I had my son last year(he was 12 days late, they had to break my water, he never dropped), I followed my OB, as long as she wasn't worried, neither was I. I would advise against any long trips, stick close to home, take it easy and make sure your bag is packed and ready to go! Good luck and Merry Christmas! S.

Hi R.,

First of, congratulations!!! Unfortunately, nobody can really predict when a baby is going to be born. With my third child, I walked around for TWO weeks being 5 cm dialated. I was REALLY frustrated!!! I thought that at the Dr. visit they would tell me to go to the hospital right away, but it wasn't until two weeks later, that my daughter decided to come.

I wish you the best of luck!!! Just remember each pregnancy is unique!!
