My son is turning one on May 16th and I'm looking for a place to have his party - my condo is way too small. We live on the north side of Chicago. Any suggestions of restaurants, parks, etc would be helpful!

We had my daughter's first birthday party at the Skokie park district building on Oakton st. and Skokie Blvd. It is called the Exploritorium, and they have tons of birthday parties there! It was great! They had an indoor play area that was similar to Chuck E Cheese, but you get your own party room. They provide a person to help you prepare for the party and they also will check in all your guests and lead them to the correct party room. My daughter and all the kids loved it and it was also really nice for all the adults because they didn't have to stay in a room full of other kids and other parties. They liked being able to sit and talk in the private party room while the kids played in the playroom. They also had a dinosaur come down and say "Hi" to all the kids. Just look on the Skokie Park District website. Either put in a search for birthday parties or "Exploritorium" and you should be able to get more info. Good luck!

When I was pregnant and eating a lot of ice cream last summer, my husband and i popped into Sweet Occassions ice cream / sandwhich shop in Andersonville and there was a family celebrating a 1 year birthday there. Its a cute place. I don't know if the family knew the owner but it looked like a swell time.
