My 4 year old gets fevers alot that are usually over 102F. When I call the nurse advisory line I always get the same answers Tylenol and a cool bath which works for a while but the fever always comes back. He is in PreK and has missed a lot of school due to these fevers when I take him into the doctor they do a chest x-ray and treat him for pnoumia(sp?)even when they don't see it in his lungs. He has been to multiple doctors and they all give the same answers. In my heart and gut I know there is something going on with him, but doctors aren't giving me answers or the right ones anyway. He has had the pnoumia(sp?) shots and this has been going on for asmost two years and its getting worse. Desperate for answers, suggestion, anything to help my baby.

So What Happened?

Thank you everyone for your advice. My son did go and see a different Dr. this morning that actually took me serious and believes there is possibility that his bone marrow and the white cells have something to do with him getting so sick all the time so the next time he is running his hihg grade fever she wants to run blood test. Also I would love to just let the fever run its course but unfortunely I can't because he has had a febrible seziure caused by these fevers. Maybe I have finally found a Dr. who is also a mother that wants answers as much as I do. I will keep you posted

Hi C.,
I don't have alot of advice except if you truly believe something is wrong there probably is. I really believe in mothers intuition so I would switch doctors. Find someone that will listen to you and look for something other than pneumona. Good luck.

Hey there!

Is he running a temp now? If so I would call the nurse line in your area and maybe take him in to the hospital to get your answers. Sometimes we have to put up a fight as a parent. Doctors tell you what they want you to hear and say everything is ok. It is better to be safe than sorry. Have they done a blood test? There has to be a reason why he is still getting the temperatures. Have they done any tests for mono or any other kinds of sicknesses? I would for sure have them do a blood test if they have not already done one. Make sure you call them every day and let them know if he still is not better and tell them how his is doing. I hope you guys can get it figured out! Hang in there,

C.

I do not have any experience with this, nor do I have any medical background, but Like the others said, if you feel something is wrong go with your instincts.

Take him to the Dr. and DEMAND answers--maybe ask for a referral to St. Judes!

When my sister was 6, she too was VERY ill, and no Dr. knew what was wrong. After months of my parents watching her wither away--they got MAD as HELL, and demanded answers, that is when they were sent to this one DR. who bless his heart finally gave them answers. She had 3 different diseases--Mumps,Menigitis, and Pancriatitus!!! She finally got better--but ended up missing 6 months of school!

So, FIGHT Mom and Dad FIGHT! I will pray you find answers!

I believe that you are right in thinking something is definatlly going on with your son. It is NOT normal to fever nonstop. And it is NOT good for your son to be x-rayed alot or treated for pnoumia espically if he doesnt have it.
In my book Drs. are full of it...they will tell you what you want to hear and drug your child up and send you home...all the while your baby isnt getting better and in most cases getting worse - if not from anything else except the drugs they put them on.
Antibiotics are bad...even tylenol is bad...it breaks down the immune system, which we should be trying to build so it can fight off any infections on its own.
My suggestion is to first STOP THE TYLENOL! Let his fever run...its doing its job...there IS a reason he has it...THERE is something going on in his little body.
(You should be proud of yourself to think so and not just ignore it b/c the drs say he is ok...you are his MOTHER and you know him best.)
Of course you dont want to let the fever get too high..and in the case it does get over 103. put him in a cool bath with ground up *Ginger Root*. It helps reduce fever and also pulls any toxins out of the body. It may make him phlemy (sp?) and may even make him vomit, but that is good, it means he is getting the "junk" out.

I would seriouslly look into find a Natural/Herbal/Homopathic Dr. in your area. It may take a little research on your part to find one, but once you do I doubt you will go back to a medical dr.
They WILL listen to you and they WILL get you answers...and the way they get them are less invasive on your child. They can test a person by blood, or eyeridology and/or mustle testing etc. You will be amazed what they can tell just by looking at your eyes!
Then they will treat the baby naturally, which will not hurt him. Antibiotic brake down your immune system and only cover up any issues you have - they NEVER "cure" you or get to the root of the problem.
There are so many easy ways to help your child...diet, vitemans, cell salts, essential oils, etc.
I hope you will take my advice and seek a homopathic Dr. What do you have to loose right? Even if you dont "believe" in them, give it a shot...after all you are not getting any answers from a medical dr. and your child is still sick.
GOOD LUCK. I hope to hear your son is doing better soon!
