I have rosacea on my cheeks and I use a topical medication for it. I also use Eucerin face lotion with spf. My problem is my face looks dull, dehydrated, tired, and some wrinkles. I also have oily skin around my nose and forehead. I’m looking for a face cream and makeup that will help with these problems.

So What Happened?

Thanks to everyone who gave great advice on rosacea. I decided to go to the dermatologists to get his opinion on what he recommended. For makeup there is no such thing as the best product. He Said, "They just all want your money." He said to use what feels and looks good to me. This doesn't mean I won't try what you all recommended. It was a lot of information so it'll take a while. again, thanks.

Go to a dermatologist. I was trying to deal w/ my rosacia on my own. nope. I am way to old for that. so, I now use a prescription topical, and an oral. I still get zits at 41. I hate it. But, my skin is so much better, and it has only been 1 month.

Hi C.,
I was diagnosed with rosacea when I was about 35 - I'm 45 now. My doctor in NY told me not to put any products with oil on my face. He is quoted in all the beauty magazines and he has his own skin care line of products but he told me I could use Oil of Olay Complete - since I didn't want to spend a lot on face cream. I have been using the Oil of Olay Complete since then. It is oil free and I use it every day on my face and neck - it is also SPF15. I use Neutrogena oil free face scrub maybe once a week or so to take off dead skin. I only use Clinique make up that is fragrance free and oil free. I only wear make up when I have to. This has all helped my skin.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

I have rosacea too. I use Cetaphil bar soap and lotion with SPF. Once a week I use an exfoliant, St. Ives elements Microderm Abrasion. For makeup I use Bare Minerals. All of this makes a huge difference in my face. Now I do not need to use the topical meds. I have been doing this for 2 years and love the difference.

Have you ever considered going deeper to find out what is the cause of your skin problem?

The way I think is, if the doctor diagnosis that I have something, like high blood pressure. I go deeper to find out what is the cause of the problem.

Rosacea and other skin problems, I believe have a root cause in food allergies. I am completing my degree in Nutrition Science and Nutrition is one of my loves in life.

Also, I have had severe food allergies my entire life. I am 37 years old and have had severe reactions, even skin conditions. I am now treating ALL of my food allergies and my other problems are clearing up.

I strongly recommend that you log onto site NAET.com. NAET are a group of allergists around the world who elimiate allergies. They are the ONLY ones in the world who are trained to eliminate the allergy. Once your food allergies are eliminated, your body starts functioning noramlly and your other problems will disapper. Two things to always keep in mind, 1. Always consider allergies as a possible root or core cause of a problem, 2. Then consider deficiencies as the other possible causes of any health problem. Once, both options are considered and addressed, you will find that great health follows.

I also have a little rosacea and my dermatologist reccomended IPL treatments which are photo light treatments that pull all your discolorations to the surface and then they slough off. It is a little pricey and I only needed 2 treatments of it but it was the most dramatic change in my face. I also use good products on my skin, a green tea cleanser a sunscreen called jounee that I also get from my dermatologist that has collagen building properties and a good moisturizer at night. Anyway look into IPL and ask your dermatologist, it may be a good solution for you.

Hi C.,

As you know there are foods and drinks that can stir it up. For the skin though I represent a company called Sensaria Natural Bodycare. I have dealt with rosacea for years and have met many women as I go to people's homes and do spa classes where I show them how to use the products and talk about different skin types and what to do for them.

There are several things to be aware of 1) not to use harsh cleansers, stay away from anything with alcohol, sodium laurel sulfates in it 2) use an enzyme exfoliator, it melts the dead skin cells away instead of scrubing them away 3) use Sensaria's Green Tea Calming Serum, chock full of antioxidants and calming ingredients 4) use a moisturizer that does not contain any petroleum, mineral oils, waxes.

One of the great things about Sensaria's products is that it is a proven line, been around since the 70's, uses natural based ingredients and the purest form of water, uses essential oils and plant extracts for the scent instead of synthetic perfumes (smells really good and even men like it) and there is a one-year guarantee. Show me another company that does that.

I also give a first time customer a 15% discount. Give me a call, email, or go to my website first to check it out.

Hi C.,
I have not read through all the posts you received, but here is my experience. I suffered for several years until I found a dermo that said to STOP using all the products. The salicylic acid that is in almost all acne products was irritating my skin to death. I use Dove bar soap (white) to wash my face and that is it. I also take vitamin E and use otc cortisone cream if a spot starts to get irritated. I also use Clinique foundation. My girlfriend quit using all products and has had fabulous results! It is super cheap and can't hurt to try. Best of luck to you!

A couple of years ago, I had HORRIBLE rosacea. And that was after years of having porcelain like skin so you know I was devastated. I came across products by a company called ZenMed. You can look them up on line. Since using their products, my rosacea is 99.9% gone. Their products are fantastic. You order them on line and they ship them to you. And the products are all natural. My favorite products are from their rosacea line and are the gentle cleansing cream, anti-redness mask and support serum. Good luck!

My husband has really bad rosacea and he just went to a dermatologist to get treated. In addition to the topical medication, he was given an oral prescription. You need to treat rosacea not only topically on the surface, but within your body as well.

One last thing, hot water aggravates rosacea. You may want to also think about lowering the temperature of your water when you take showers or wash your face.

Rosacea and really any other skin condition is caused my the bowels/diestive organs. Roseacea, from what medical journals I have read, is caused by H. pylori and can be taken care of if you can get the bacterium under control in the stomach. I know a few people who have used Apex Immune Support and PB8 to get their skin under control.

I also have Rosacea and I use Kinerase skin care, you can purchase it at Sephora and since I have been using it, I have not had any type of rash or breakout at all, it is amazing! As for make up, I only wear eye make up occasionally, I have never worn foundation or powder, etc. but the people at Sephora are great at providing great advice. I know that Lorac cosmetics are great for Rosacea.

Hi C.,

I am just a mom, not an esthetician or anything like that. But I do have VERY sensitive skin...and always have.

The ONLY skincare line I have been able to use without developing a reaction or paying astronomical prices is Earth Science.

It is available online and is not pricey....SPF suncreen for around $9.00...Creamy cleanser for around $8.00,..plus they have night creams, eye creams, you name it.

Their products are so gentle, the first ingredient on the toner is Aloe Vera... it doesn't dry the skin at all.

They also have a mild scrub which has worked wonders for me when I have had dull looking skin. I use the scrub about once a week...

I hope this helps. Goodluck and best wishes,
R.

I take a tablespoon a day of flax oil to help with my skin. It hydrates your skin and hair, from the inside out. It needs to stay in your fridge and can be purchased at whole foods, or henrys. I used to have very dry skin and now people comment often about how shiny and youthful my skin looks. Also, try to hydrate with a cream that doesn't contain petroleum (Eucerin contains this ing.). I use dermologica products, their best creams, 2ce a day, after patting water on my face 1st. If you can keep your skin better hydrated, I think you'll see less of the rosacia.
Good luck.

I've had rosacea for about 14 years now and the best thing I've found to use is a product called BioKorium. It's sold in Riverside at their day spa, speak to Vivian to owner she'll be able to give you better info. But if I don't have the money and can't travel that far I've found that using Cetaphil to wash my face, using Aquaphor at night and any good moisuturizer works well. I understand that Aquaphor is thick and it may itch at the beginning, but using a heavy moisturizer at night has helped reduce my oily skin. Oily skin seems to mean skin craving moisture. I also use Cliniques make up line and my skin has an even tone and the redness looks like a soft blush. Hope this helps.

Hi C.,

I think the best thing to do is go to your dermatologist and then a skin care center.

I had a small case of rosacea and started getting crows feet around my eyes. I also started noticing early signs of wrinkles. I used many different products and finally found the one that I love. Reclaim by Victoria Secrets. I saw the infocommercial, ordered it and love it. I've been using it for about 3-4 years now and my skin is much healthier.

As for the dullness in my face. I also switched my make-up and started using bare minerals (you can buy this at Sophora, Planet Beauty, Nordstroms). The minute I started using bare minerals, both my male and female friends started telling me that I had a glow. Okay - I swear I am not selling their product :) but I am happy with it and it works well for me.

Good luck
