I have done a lot of searching for a crib rail guard/teether that will work for a lifetime crib. I have a Bonavita crib and it is much larger than a standard crib. I am having a lot of trouble findng a guard so that my baby won't chew off the wood of the crib, but I can't find a guard or gummie guard that will fit the larger rail. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

I am not sure what your theme is in your childs nursery but my daughters was pink so i got pink denim and sewed it to fit the rim of the crib she cut all her teeth on that piece of denim, and i still have it !! It was inexpensive and my grandmother had sewn it so it was safe !!!

I have no idea what a Bonavita crib is but my first thought was go down to your local hardware or farming store and get a piece of rubber hose. Maybe one that carries water and split it lengthwise. That should fit over the rail.

go to your local hard ware store and look around for something that you might be able to cut to fit,or alter in some way to help you out. If you cant find any thing go to a fabric store find a fabric that you like and sew somthing together. It does not matter if it looks perfect it just needs to be functional. Good luck and God be with you.

the best stuff to use is the stuff used to cover pipes in winter go to lowes or homedepot and ask the person in the plumbing area to help you it comes in real long sections so it will cover the whole thing.you just have to split it down the side once and push it on .cheap too !

Have you contacted the company itself that makes the crib. Years ago I had bought a crib at a garage sale that was missing bolts ect. I contacted the maker of the crib to asee if they had the necessary parts. They did and offered to send to me for FREE... The free part may no longer exist but I am sure they probably still have the parts. With the internet age I'm sure you can locate them or a number.

When using a teething rail on our crib, we found they never went the whole length of the rail and the sides. My son would bite on the small pieces of wood that weren't covered. Then he would just pull the railing off. I found them pointless.

my little boy did the same thing and I had the same problem with the crib it was a larger crib and the rails were larger, he chewed the wood until I came up with this and it seemed to work good. I used receiving blankets I folded them to the width of the rail I used yarn and very, very, very tightly wound the yarn around the receiving blanket the length of the crib, making sure not to leave any strings or anything the baby could get ahold of exposed. This worked great you could also bye another crib bumper and put around the top this would help as well.
