Hi! I was hoping some of you ladies could help me think of a fun place to take my 8 yo daughter for her Bday. Its low key with just family (about 8 of us) and we wanted to go to a fun restaurant or party place. I can't think of anything! Something different and fun in the area. Thanks!

What can I do next?

Not necessarily a party place, but how about Build-A-Bear? If there are more kids, they will do a bear party. Or you could just go there, let your daughter do the bear thing, and wrap up at a fun restaurant. If you're in the city, you could do Ed DeBevics, if in the burbs, you could try to find a Joe's Crab Shack or something equally loud and obnoxious, but fun for kids!

You can check out Dave and Buster's. I have only been there for a holiday party but my kids really like it. if you are careful, they do have opportunity's to save money instead of leaving with an empty wallet. If you are just looking for dinner for your immediate family, that could be a great choice. Their party options are really expensive. They have a website also but I cannot think if it is DaveandBusters or D&B. They have a site downtown and one in Addison though I am sure there are others. A friend once took her daughter to the Enchanted Castle and there is also Safari Land on North Ave (not sure if it is in Villa Park or not). they have bowling and other amusement things though never been there myself.

A fun restaurant, off the top of my head, is Bucca de Beppo. It's a bit irreverent, food can be served family style, decor is interesting and entertaining. It's been a while since I have been there for a birthday - but, years ago, the "birthday cake" that came to the table, was an obnoxiously HUGE multi-tiered piece of cake. They also come to the table and sing "Happy birthday" in Italian. A couple locations near you: Orland Park and Lombard (York Town) but they also have one downtown, Chicago. You can go Ice skating, first, on State Street, then head over there. Have fun!

How about american girl tea party, I done it for my daughter,s B-day at least twice age eight and nine and her and her guests loved it! Even if they do not have a doll they will provide them with a doll while they dine. I do suggest you make reservations and the meals are very modest. This is indeed a very cultured way to enjoy a funfilled B-Day this will be a very cherised memory for everyone who attends. The store is located in the old Lord and Taylor location downtown michigan ave. Chicago in the Water Tower.

It may be more than you were looking to do but have you ever been to the Key Lime Cove indoor waterpark in Gurnee? It would be a nice getaway for everyone:)
