Hello! I am a second grade teacher and needs ideas for a costume that I can wear to school for our party. Looking for something simple, not scary, and not pricey to buy the pieces for. Help!

What can I do next?

Overalls and pigtails or a straw hat for a farm girl. All the pockets in the overalls are nice to have... you could put candy in them. What ever you do decide, make it comfortable and compatible so you dont have to wrestle with it all day. I wouldnt wear wings, I think they would be a pain. Wear some comfy jammies and a flannel robe and slippers and be the gal that didnt get dressed yet... now that would be cozy ;)

Two of our 2nd grade teachers went as Thing 1 and Thing 2 from the Cat in the Hat. They wore red t-shirts with either Thing 1 or Thing 2 on them, jeans and blue hair.

One of our preschool teachers dressed up as a flower last year. She got a big plastic pot, cut the bottom out and put strings through the top so she could wear it over her sholders like suspenders. Then she wore a green top and put cardboard sunflower petals around her face. Very cute and she was still able to move around.

Could you dress up as Viola Swamp from the Miss Nelson books? You could read the story then too! Or, depending on what you look like of course, you could dress up as Miss Nelson, but she's not so scary. All you'd need is a black dress, some striped tights, and a big fake mole.

If you don't know the stories I'm talking about PM me and I'll pass along the info!

You could make a pumpkin costume... Just get an orange shirt, get the iron-on glue, and cut some black fabric into a jack-o-lantern pattern and iron it on... Then find an orange beanie and some green ribbons and fabric, and make a hat topper. :)

I like Jane's idea - if you know characters from books that you've read to the kids or that the kids are reading, you can possibly pull one from there. There's also the potential that your own closet can supply most of the pieces. check out these links - http://www.ehow.com/list_###-###-####_cheap-adult-hallowe...
