Advice on Where to Have D&C

Sadly I've just found out that my pregnancy miscarried. The fetus stopped growing almost 3 weeks ago, but I haven't had any symptoms of miscarriage except lack of morning sickness. The miscarriage was confirmed by ultrasound. So I'm thinking this may not pass on its own and I may have to go through a D&C. Scary. Anyway we have Kaiser and my options are Sunnyside or St. Vincents. I was thinking about St. V's because they are highly regarded with respect to medical pregnancy issues, and I want to lower my risk of further complications as much as possible and get back on track. Does anyone have any experiences/advice on this? Thanks

What can I do next?

I'm sorry to hear your news.
I've had two misscarriages, both within the 1st trimester, both required a D&C and both were done at St. V. The doctors/nurses were very nice and all went as well as it could. I felt like I was in very good hands. Recovery isn't all that bad (2-3 days tops for me) but that probably depends on how far along you were in your pregnancy.
Good luck with everything.

Hi Colleen,

I can tell you with being a Kaiser member for 27 years (my whole life) and working at Kaiser that you are in great hands and care. People don't realize the amazing progress and technology Kaiser has come to. I am very sorry for the loss that you are expriencing and you and your family are in my thoughts. There are amazing providers at Kaiser and I don't know if you are aware of the new Labor and Delivery and the progress they are making to be able to handle all births at Kaiser and not have to refer patients to another Hospital.
What ever you decided I wish you all the health, wellness and happiness to you and your family!

L.

I am so very sorry for you loss. I unfortunately do not have a recomendation as to which of those to use as my family and I use Legacy hospitals. You do want to make sure that you talk with your OB regarding the D&C first of course. I can tell you that if your health insurance covers the use of Legacy hospitals that they are 100% amazing. I suffered a miscarriage in 2004 and was treated with the upmost respect and care from the doctors in that network and the hospital. I wish the very best and pray your heart heals quickly. If you need someone to talk to, you can always contact me.
