I've had them all. Well, almost. The first was the Amway. It required expensive filters. Years later I replaced those with Oreck. Justified the filters because the air felt great. Then game the Sharper Image. All you have to do is clean off the black ugly dirt, very easy. They are wonderful. Good luck and God bless.

We, too have 3 children, and struggled with allergies. We've tried many brands in the past, however, nothing compared to the results, easy manitaince, and convenience of the SHaklee Air SOurce. Here is a great web-site to elude to, which compares all the air purifiers in detail.(Go to Air Purification)
www.yourhealthyalternatives.com You can order at a discount at this site, I believe vs. just going to shaklee.com where I found it cost much more. Hopes this helps...

Hi Birute,

We bought the Oreck air purifier because were constantly w/the sniffles. Well, we bought 2 of them one for each of their rooms. And to our suprise they have not gotten sick like they used to. I would highly recommend getting one especially if you suffer from allergies. You can immediately tell the difference from a clean room (air) to one that doesn't have a purifier. It's a fresh, clean, crisp air. The one we got was the oreck and we don't have to buy filters. Every 2 weeks I take out the filter and wash it. It's made out of a plastic material. Kind of looks like a screen from a window. I love it. It's a bit expensive but I tell you they are worth it. Great investment!

Shaklee has a WONDERFUL one. You do have to purchase it from a Shaklee representative (kinda like Mary Kay or Amway). We have a rabbit and they SMELL, but with the air purifier we have, it's not nearly as noticable until the cage should have been clean a week ago!! I live in the Woodlands and would be happy to get it for you at my cost - I could even have it shipped directly to you regardless of where you live. To get info on it, go to their website www.shaklee.com and have a look. The only downside is you have to purchase a replacement filter ever year. And ours runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Just remember they are only as good as the filter. You have to change the small ones every month and the big ones at least every three. If you have animals you will have to change more often. Why are you buying one? If it is for allergies, babies, or just want to freshen the air, please contact me I can save you time and money and show you some things that really work and you will not have to spend any new money.

Hi Birute,
My husband and I love our purifier. You can tell the difference in a room that has one and one that doesn't. It helped my husbands alergies.

Before I bought our air purifier, I researched a lot about it. I ended up buying this
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Productgroup.aspx?Prodid=112...
There's no filter to clean, buy, or change; and the UV light kills germs. It's stylish and not bulky and it's durable and the UV lightbulb lasts a long time. It's pretty safe around young children. Their tiny fingers cannot get caught/stuck anywhere in his unit nor are there any exposed fans. I've been using mine for about 2yrs now and haven't changed the lightbulb yet. It still looks new and haven't had any problems. I personally prefer no filter so I don't have to spend more money to change it out every so often...and I like to fiddle with it as less as possible. If I remember correctly, UV light kills more germs than the other types of air purifiers. Hope this helps!

You have to be carefull when you look for an air filtration system. Some produces ozone and you would not want that!
