Am I Pregnant???

I just had my daughter 5 months ago. I have had three periods since then. My period came on time the second time, and last month it came a week early. I was due to start my period on Fed. 10th. Before I even knew I was late, I felt a little pregnant, but I just thought maybe my period was going to start soon, so I checked the calendar and sure enough I was already two days late. So I took a pregnancy test, it was negative. Then two days later I took another one, still negative. I’ve been nauseated here and there, and my boobs are tender and I’ve been so exhausted. My last pregnancy, the test was obviously positive the first time I took the test, but I was also a couple weeks late. Does this sound familiar to anyone that ended up being pregnant? Or am I totally off the wall, and I’ll get my period soon. I don’t want to rush to the doctors for nothing, just cause I’m over reacting. Any advice would be helpful, thank you.

So What Happened?

Well I started my period, one week late. I was disappointed, because I had gotten my hopes up. But it is probably for the best since I already had plans to return to my nursing career, and am going for an interview tomorrow on 19th. I had told my husband that I would continue to stay at home and put my career on hold if I ended up being pregnant. We were not trying to get pregnant; as we just had our first beautiful baby girl (unplanned) 5 months ago. I would like to thank everyone for their advice. But it just wasn’t my time to be prego again :)

I suggest if your still feeling this way in a few days it might be worth getting a blood test to find out for sure. It's just not worth the constant worry...that alone can make you sick! The doctors understand...they've been thru this a million times so you need not feel embarrassed by any means.

Good luck!

I tested negative 6 days late with my first. I was totally not expecting to be pregnant, so i though my hormones were 'off'. I took one more test 10 days late before calling my dr. to get some tests run and see what was going on - it was positive then. Guess i was part of that 1% whose hormones were not strong enough to show early on. maybe you are too? Maybe it's still your hormones readjusting to being not-pregnant... hang in there!

With my 3rd child I went through a similar situation. My 2nd child was only 3 months old and I had only had one period so going by that, 9 days late the test was negative and by day 12 it was positive. You know your body............you are probably pregnant............Good Luck!!

I'm with Anna....get some blood work done. No need to put yourself through this not knowing. Every one of my pregnancies was different with regard to how it is I felt AND I had a few times when I was wrong. The bottom line is, you won't know for sure till you have some blood work.

Good luck!

may be your hormones are getting back to normal. are you on birthcontrol pills? sometimes those can make people sick. if you are in doubt there is no reason to feel silly if you do not feel well go to the doctor. what if something else is going on? you have a baby and need to take care of yourself also. Are you breastfeeding? I often had pregnancy symptoms (with no pregnancy) while breastfeeding. Your best bet is to wait a week, or two. Multiple testing will only make you crazy! Good luck, in the direction that you want it.

You might be pregnant. I have a daughter that I took 3 home pregnancy test and all were negative. I took one the day before I decided to go to the doctor, so I don't have a lot of faith in home pregnancy tests. However, when you are breastfeeding, your period might be different. I would see about a blood test just to be sure.

It does not hurt to go have the blood test taken. matter of fact you can most likely walk in to a lab annex and ask for one they will ask the name of your OB or family doctor to submit your results to. it is that simple.

Good Luck

First, are you breastfeeding? If so, I went 10 months with only 2 periods while I was breastfeeding with my first. If not, you could very well be pregnant. With both of my girls, I took 3 tests each over the first couple of weeks and all said negative. It wasn't until I was almost 2 months along that the tests finally said positive :) Hope this helps.

Hi M.,
Well, you certainly could be pregnant but I have experienced times where I felt pregnant and my period was late but never ended up pregnant. If you are worrying about your period being late or other stress that can cause your period to be a bit wacky. It seems to happen to me when I'm really stressed my period is late and or last longer than usual. Good Luck and I wish you the best!

You are not over reacting. You should see a doctor to find out if you are pregnant or are having a problem that needs treatment. Don't wait.

Don't get yourself too worried about it. Your mind can make your body act like you are pregnant.

I wouldn't hesitate going to the doc. They've seen & heard it all. I also had a hit or miss period following the birth of my second son, it would Be early, then late, light, etc. I started having weird pain, thought it was just ovulating, instead, ended up in emergency room with a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, emergency surgery resulting in the loss of a fallopian tube.
Not saying you have one, just regretting that I didn't get checked out at first when I had questions. Better to know one way or the other and the doc is the best one to tell you. Geed Luck!

It can depend on alot of things, are you brest feeding? With my first child my periods were very eratic, and my doctor told me it was because I was breast feeding. Good luck

I am a Labor & Delivery nurse. It sounds quite possible that you might be pregnant because of the symptoms you are describing. My suggestion is to wait a couple more days & re-take the test. The HCG hormone of pregnancy doubles every day, so if you are pregnant it should show up in a couple of days. You could also get a blood test. That shows much quicker. Best of luck:)

Hormones are crazy things. You could be pregnant or it could be your hormones getting back to normal. Pregnancy tests can't tell a thing for 2 or 3 weeks after conception. Wait a week or 2 and if you still "feel" pregnant, take another pregnancy test. If you aren't trying to get pregnant, you might want to consider going back on your birth control after determining that you are not pregnant. Surprises are always likely to happen!
