We caved and got Netflix today but Im pissed because I was so looking forward to watching True Blood but its not on it. Is it because they are currently playing season 6 on tv right now?

You might have wanted to look into Amazon Prime instead. There's a good selection of HBO shows there, including True Blood. Also, you can't beat the free two day shipping. You have to pay the 99.00/yr at once, but it averages out to about $8.25 a month.
True Blood (yay, love it!) is an HBO show, and HBO is very controlling with their streaming licencing. Netflix isn't allowed to stream it, but they do have seasons 1-6 available on DVD. I have season 6 at the top of my queue.
Netflix (and other services) can only stream what rights holders allow and give licencing for, so if you want the full Netflix library you will need to add a DVD plan.
Amazon Instant View is allowed to stream True Blood, but only the first 3 seasons are free with Prime. Seasons 3-6 can be streamed if you purchase them.
Everything isn't on it. That is why some people are more loyal to one streaming company over another. We've been happy with Netflix, but we don't tend to watch a lot of the HBO series. We actually like a lot of BBC stuff. Movies and TV---and there is plenty of it to see with Netflix. Some is streaming, some is DVD/Blu-ray.
I thought you could see what was offered before you signed up though. Didn't you look?
Also, I am pretty sure it is 2 weeks free trial... is that what you signed up for? If so, check it out and cancel it if you decide it isn't for you. No harm, no foul.
If you are looking for a particular program/show/series, then you need to be sure to do that research before making assumptions about watching it on a particular provider. I'm pretty sure that all of them cycle shows, and don't continuously and continually show the same seasons of the same series for ever and ever and ever. They move on and get newer or different material. Something gets dropped. Perhaps they'll pick it up again later, perhaps not... you don't really know. But for $8 a month or so, it might be worth it for other things to watch besides the one you were looking for. You never know.

Netflix doesn't get HBO shows.
Shows come and go. We use streaming, I don't know if the DVDs are different. For example 24 is not available right now although the new season is on TV right now and I would have gone back and watched the last season. Still awesome for $7.99.
Be sure you have purchased not just the streaming but the Netflix DVD-by-mail service. You can get either or both -- did you purchase just the streaming option?
We got hooked on a couple of shows through streaming and the next seasons aren't available for streaming yet, but we can get them on DVD. It's not a case of these seasons airing at the moment -- they are finished airing on the original networks but just not licensed for streaming yet. It's too bad but at least we can still see the series -- we just have to do it via DVD.
You might want to check the offerings thoroughly before you either dump Netflix or pay for Amazon Prime or whatever, so you don't end up losing some things you want if you switch providers. Netflix has a ton of good stuff, just not HBO material, I'm told.
Amazon Prime will get you many HBO shows. I do know that my local library carries True Blood - might want to call and reserve it!
most streaming providers don't have current shows (the networks want you to watch them there) and netflix doesn't do HBO shows at all. try amazon prime, but you'll still probably have to wait for season 6.

They have other seasons on DVD.. But they will not have the current season until later.
They do not show the current season on anything but HBO
Netflix doesn't get True Blood. I was able to borrow True Blood DVD's from the library.
I love NetFlix. Certain cable stations don't share their shows with streaming. It is how they keep you paying the high prices the cable companies are asking for instead of everyone converting to more cost effective ways of watching movies and shows such as NetFlix, Hulu, etc.
You could always cancel your NetFlix subscription if you really don't like it or it isn't meeting your needs.
I don't have cable and when I did, I had just basic cable without any of the premium channels like HBO or ShowTime. We use this saved monthly money to go on day trips and vacation.
