I am very confused on what I should do I answer this ad about a nanny position but have not be able to talk to the people but per email because they are out of the country right now. It is not live in position. It sounded really good but now they what me to collect some money for them because they are not coming back in town for another month or so. But they have clients that own them money and want me to keep some money out for myself and give the rest to the person watching their children now. I have not even meet these people and all they have is my resume that I sent them. Help what do you think I should do? If it is good thing I don't want to mess up my chances for the position. Please help any suggestions are welcome.

What can I do next?

It sounds a little fishy to me. I would not do it if it includes giving account numbers because then it really would be a scam.
I would be very hesistant to do this myself. :(

Do NOT do it!! This really sounds like a scam, and I doubt there is a real nanny job waiting for you either. Save yourself the aggravation and walk away from these people right now. My husband has good friends who investigate these types of scams and they say the first red flag is if someone says they are out of the country. This is a scam.

Good luck!

I would be very careful, it sounds like a SCAM. Anyone hiring you that is out of the country, site unseen, is most likely planning on scamming you out of money in the long run. Why would these people trust you to get money of theirs, and pay someone else, then keep "some" for yourself? Very wierd. Ask them for some employer references. Theres nothing wrong with that! Especially if at ANY point they ask you to use your personal checking account, to cash a check for them or that is owed to them, RUN very fast in the opposite direction. I hear about these scams all the time. Where did you get this job? Is a site or agency that screens on both ends?

If you answered an ad on Craigslist - it's a scam. I've seen it on there many times.

It's never a good thing if someone wants you to pay someone they owe money......Hello if they owe money to others, they will owe money to you. But seriously they are scam artists looking for stupid people who are willing to just trust them and then that's it. #1 how do you know they'd even hire you? #2 I'd want the phone number of the supposed people who have their kids.......like what kind of parent leaves the country and leaves the kids for months on end. I smell a rat.....bit fat smelly low life creep........rat!

Its definitely a scam! IF they truly were out of country or out of state and looking to hire a nanny they would have atleast had a family member or trusted friend meet with you to interview you. They are not going to just hire you based off of your resume if they care about their children. They would have also given you a number where they could be reached. I have legitimately been hired as a nanny for a family that was moving in from out of state. They (and I) were extremely thorough in the interview process. First they had me meet with her soon to be new boss and close friend. Then after meeting him, she personally flew in to meet me for a personal interview. Most people when searching for a perfect nanny for their children want to see how you personally interact with their children. There are a lot of good and legitimate nanny positions out there that come available all the time. If your truly interested in that type of job keep looking. Also there are companies that will help try to place you with a family. Its typically free for the nanny, the families usually have to pay to use the service though.

It sounds like a scam to me. No way would I get involved. These scams send you a check or money order and tell you to keep so much for yourself and send the rest to them. The checks or money orders are fraudulent and you end you paying the money back to your bank or where ever you cash them. Run don't walk away from this. Trust me --- I know of a lot of people that have fallen for it. If you are not sure --- call your local police/sheriff dept.
