Any Ideas for a Simple Chic Baby Shower?

I already have the date, menu and decor set. I'm just hoping to come across some things that are entertaining, but not over the top. I would love suggestions on sentimental things that can be done/said. This will be an all adult, all women, baby shower. I'm looking for games and ideas that are not gross or too silly (no candy bar poo or guess the baby food flavor).

What can I do next?

Thank you for the suggestions. They helped me come up with ideas for what will work in that setting. Have a great day. :)

I love getting a small book where the "seasoned" moms can write tips on being a new mom.

Games-
Say a sentence from a popular childrens book and have the guests guess the book. Ex. "In the great green room..." Goodnight Moon

You can take the idea from a blessingway and have each guest bring a bead for the new mom that reminds them of the mom. At the shower string the beads into a necklace for the new mom.

We just threw a baby shower this past weekend. I am not into the games...no one likes those! We bought a little Polaroid instant camera and took pictures of all the guests. We had each guest write down some advice to the parents on a postcard. Then we put the pictures in a quick scrap book along with their advice.

One thing I had my family members do when I had my shower for my daughter (only girl on both sides) was to have cute stationary set up and everyone wrote my daughter a little note and sealed it up and I bundled and wrapped them up and am going to give them to her on her 18th b-day.

Can you imagine how cute it would be to get all those sweet sentiments from your loved ones...all their hopes and dreams for her?! Love it!

~My husband's Dad was very creative and used the cute napkin to right on so she would have a little piece of her '1st party'!

I can't wait to see what everyone wrote! I didn't read any of them, I had them seal them up so they would be private and just for her. She got one from all 4 of her big brothers, myself, her Daddy, her Grandparents and her Auntie and Uncle and her 2 cousins!

At my baby shower, we invited the guys, had the Cowboy game on and served beer and hot wings! So, I may not be qualified to answer.

But, imo, games don't lend themselves to simple and chic. The babyshower is the last time it will ever be about the pregnant mom. I don't get why people do a party fit for babies and invite all grownups! Why not just have a nice get together with friends. I would have fruit, good cheese, and wine for the non-pregnant or lactating ladies. Bring an empty journal to pass around and let everyone write words of congratulations and wisdom. Play some nice music in the background and just mingle with each other for a little while. Let the mom sit in the queens chair and recieve visitors and enjoy her family and friends. Then open presents, then chic little gourmet cupcakes, hug kiss, goodbye! Oh but dont forget to make a hat out of the bows and ribbons! That's crucial.

For a shower gift my friends put together a memory book. They each wrote a note and the remaining empty pages were for me to jot down stories or notes about my baby after he was born.

If you're having at a home, a chic fancy decor idea is white lights.
If at a restaurant, you can always bring in a white table top trig tree decorated w/white lights. Fancy.

White table cloths

If @ hm, white chair covers like at a wedding. Fancy

For a gift to mom-to-be, how about a small silver charm (silver baby bottle or pacifier on a silver chain bracelet or baby name inscribed on a silver charm if she has picked out the name).

Pink roses in a small bowl as a centerpiece for each table.

Pink or blue M&M's as party favors

Love the idea of the "tip journal book".

If she has picked out her baby's name, how about buying a wood sign that has her name spelled out? You can use it as a decoration then she can take him home to decorate the baby's room.

Also, turn her onto Mamapedia.

Pink or blue helium balloons?

Only one game that I played at a baby shower stayed with me. We had to fill in the blanks for nursery rhymes. I did terrible, b/c I didn't have any kids yet, but it was fun.

I've also seen memory games where you put a bunch of baby stuff on a tray and walk it around. Then the guests have to write down as many items as they can remember from the tray.

I like Melissa's ideas. :) I was going to suggest to make a book from the seasoned moms.

As far as a cute game, one was to match or fill-in the names of the baby animals next to their mamas.

Have fun!

LOVE the "tips" book idea. Just buy a pretty journal & pass it around!

Baby Gift Bingo -- squares with common items and to be crossed off as you open O. of those items.

Set a timer to go off at random intervals while you're opening gifts for winning the centerpieces.

We played a fun game where you had to come up with as many songs that had the word baby in it. Then you could challenge the other teams and make them sing the song if wanted. It was really fun.

I gave my daughter in law a shower two years back. It went great. One of the games we did was how big is mommys belly. They actually sell cute plastic strip in "Michaels" craft store for the game. You pass the role around and scissors, each guest snips off a strip they think is equal to moms belly. No number measurements are used. The mommy to be does last and actually measures it around herself. The strip closest in size ot hers wins a prize. My daughter in law loved having a strip to save to remember how big her tummy had gotten and the fun at the shower. We also had darling name tags with little blue diapers and bottles. At the end of the shower each guest was instructed to look inside the folded diapers and one said Oh Oh and she got a prize. Diaper cakes are also wonderful centerpieces for the table. You can buy one on ebay for under $15. and decorate it yourself with ribbon and baby lotion, binky, teething toys etc. I can email you pictures of the ideas if you like.

For my third baby, my family friends decided to do a shower even though I didn't want one. We did lunch at a restaurant, women only. My SIL got bibs and onesies and brought fabric markers and fabric paint and everyone decorated those for the baby. I still use those for him. Super cute idea, and we had fun doing it.
