Any Recommendations for a Lactation Consultant in Flower Mound/Lewisville?

I was wondering if anyone has been a client of Glenna Metoyer at Mother's Choice in Lewisville, or has any other recommendations. Breastfeeding my seven week-old is still very painful for me (I'm sure it's a shallow latch-on issue)---I need some one-on-one help from a pro!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ladies, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to offer your advice/recommendation(s)! I have been really working hard at my daughter's latch issue (not being so lazy during those nighttime feedings in bed and making sure she's latched-on properly), which has made breastfeeding much more comfortable. We still have a ways to go, however, and I will definitely explore help from the resources y'all have recommended! :) Thank you!!!

Hi Waneta,

This is H. Jarrard. I came into your dentist office for my exam with my 6 month old son Brandon a couple weeks ago. I actually loved the lactation consultant, Missy Nicklson, next door to you at the pediatric office Kid's First ###-###-####. Brandon and I had some trouble latching on at first. Missy was very patient, calm and helpful. She watched the way I was nursing and offered some great suggestions.

Also, I started nursing with a nipple shield. I don't know if you have tried one but that seemed to help us learn how to nurse. I think I used the nipple shield until Brandon was like 2-3 months old.

Also, the breast feeding pillow called the
"My Brestfriend pillow" from BabiesRus helped us alot. (you can also purchase this pillow on line.) This breastfeeding pillow is different from the boppy and helps to lay the baby much closer to you on flat surface which is easier for feeding.

Good luck! Feel free to call me if you have any additional questions.

Kay at the Nesting Place in Grapevine is great. She helped me out on my first child and it really helped.

Waneta,
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Glenna Metoyer. I have two children (ages 3 and 1) and I used her with both of my kids. With my first, I had no idea it would hurt so much and almost gave up but I went to see Glenna and then went on to breastfeed my daughter for 8 months. With my second, I saw Glenna at the hospital. I just wanted a "refresher" to make sure I started out right and I breastfeed him for 3 months. I've also recommended Glenna to a couple of my friends who love her too.
Good luck!
D.

There's a La Leche League group in Lewisville. You might also contact them for suggestions, etc. I would also sugget going to a meeting. They're free and you can ask other moms for advice. They were really helpful to me.

Waneta,

I am not tooting my own horn here, but I would be happy to see you and I do both home or clinic visits. So I would come to you in Flower Mound or you could come to me in Grapevine (not that far). You are right that latch is typically the culprit and it should not still be hurting 7 weeks later. Feel free to ask about references for me on this site as well.
