Anyone Else - Unexplained Rash?

My daughter has had a rash on her forehead for almost a week. It is not too pronounced but still noticeable. When she gets warm it becomes even more pink. I took her to the pediatrician which checked her for strep and it was negative. He recommended Benadryl. I think they are chalking up as viral but has anyone else had it and figured it out the cause?

(No it does not seem to be an allergic reaction. We have not changed any products and she has not been wearing a hat.)

What can I do next?

My son gets a dry patch on his forehead. This is from leaning against the kitchen table while he is reading. Of course, how he can even see the words is beyond me because he is blocking out the light. He will put his forehead against the edge of the table and have the book in his lap. Sometimes he even gets a little indentation from the table making it look like he has a dent in his forhead for a day or 2.

My daughter had the same issues all over and Dr said it was just really dry skin that appears in patches, not due to any reactions. We used the Target brand of hydrocortisone cream and it cleared right up. We also started using Aquaphor as her lotion as it is vaseline based and really helps dry skin

Hi, B.D,:
Get some probiotics in powder form and dust it on the pink area and
see if that helps.
Good luck.

Could be eczema or some other similar skin issue. That's usually diet-based and can be addressed nutritionally. If it continues, get back to me and I'll give you more info.

It could also be a reaction to the extremely dry air this winter. Does it respond to any lotions? Use fragrance-free, something mild.

Benadryl is for allergic reactions so that's probably what the pediatrician is thinking. Sometimes, they just give you some recommendation like that because they don't know what else to do and feel you need something to go home with, too!

Get some benedryl and give her the recommended dosage to her and see if it makes as difference. That is the one way to definantly rule out if it is an allergic reaction.
