Anyone Know of Any Weight Loss Products That Work?

Hi! I am in my 30's and have always been in shape until the last 2 years. I can not blame it on child birth or anything exciting like that. I do go to the gym and weightwatchers, but have heard from a few friends who also go to the gym that they take supplements with green tea and all kinds of "natural" weight loss products? I have never been a fan of taking anything including tylenol, but am frustrated with being fat. Anyone have anything that worked, that is not going to be bad for me? I am sure that I could search the web, but am looking for real people advice! Thanks A.

What can I do next?

HI A..
I have tried so many different things and the absolute best thing that I have found is a program called Transitions. I am down 28 lbs and 9 inches. 6 inches off my waist. It's very simple. I did the 12 week program about 6 months ago and I have not gained any of the weight back which is the best part. Most diets, once you stop you gain the weight back. If you would like any info on Transitions let me know.

Hi A., look up calorie shifting on the internet. That has been the easiest for me. I eat 6 small meals a day. So every two hours. Earlier I had tried to keep me on 1300 calories a day and while I managed that, I wasn't losing the weight my doctor wanted me to lose, even with exercising - a mile a day on a treadmill in 15 minutes. I actually gained a pound - go figure.

With the calorie shifting, I knew I was losing weight because I was hungry just at the 2 hour interval. At night after my 6th meal, if I feel hungry, I eat fruit. I.E. Apple, peach, cataloupe, honeydew, grapes etc.

Good luck.

Hi A.,
I am a mom of three trying to shed those last few pounds myself. I too also believe in holistic approaches and hate taking pills unless medically necessary and absolute. So, I found a great way to boost my immunity and help with inflammation (headaches, migraines, etc.) and a great detox and weight loss all in one. The fruit is mangosteen and the drink I found with the highest amount of anti-inflammatory help is Xango. If you drink 4 ounces in the am and 2-4 ounces in the pm, you can lose like 1-2 pounds with a good diet. If you do more, like 72 ounces of water and 24 ounces of the juice for 7-8 days, you could lose 5 pounds or more in one week. I am going to do this program next week,I am just waiting for it to come in. If you would like more info on it, feel free to contact me at ____@____.com
I also found that high amounts of healthy proteins, low white carbs and lots of water make a huge difference...Hope this helps!!

No!!!!!! Eating healthy & exercising is the only healthy thing that will really work. However you can lose up to 10 lbs doing a colon cleanse with green tea! Try Dual Action Cleanse by Klee Irwin. Just google Dual Action Cleanse you'll find it. I cannot find the magnet I had that had the website & phone # on it, sorry. But he has been on many infomercials!
That is how I found out about it. It is all natural, no toxic chemicals in it & also comes with a green tea supplement that is supposed to help in losing some pounds. Good luck!
Oh, in case they do not inform you, you need to watch your food intake while doing it. Low fat. low sat fat & high fiber.
FYI, I saw someone posted about your thyroid. I agree it may be off. However regular MD may say it is normal when yet it is "borderline" low or high like mine. I went to a homeopathic doc who said just like with diabetes it is no longer considered "borderline" but Pre-diabetes & they treat that now right away & they should do the same for thyroid but they don't. So again keep in mind you could have a borderline issue that they won't treat!

While this is not for everyone, I did the sacred heart diet which is also known as the cabbage soup diet. You can find it online. It's only a week and after day three it get's much easier. I lost 8 pounds and kept it off (it's been three months). For me it cleaned my system of sugar (which was hard!) and showed me how much I snack and how much I eat. I found myself constantly grabbing at food and then reminding myself that I couldn't have it. I was eating much more than I ever thought! It's worth a try!

I second having the thyroid checked (not just the basics, but a full panel with an endocrinologist).
I lost so much weight when I went gluten-free - there's really nothing super-nutritious about gluten grains and they are very detrimental to a lot of people. White flour and sugar really cause us to hold onto weight. There are a few books about this - "Dangerous Grains" and "Going Against the Grain". I have lost a lot of weight and my health has improved a ton overall with being gluten-free. This is why South Beach works so well for a lot of people - it's not totally gluten-free but is very low in grains.

HI A.,
I guess it depends on what works for an individual. I found that I had lost all will power, and snacked 24/7. The Atkins meal plan is best for folks like me, because it immediately stops the carb cravings. I find that immediate success helpful.
Best of luck. Rose

Have you checked in with your doctor to be sure that your Thyroid is working correctly? I used the South Beach Diet, which is not really a diet, it is a lifestyle change. It is a whole foods diet, no supplementation. I too do not like to take anything if I can avoid it. The problem with the "natural" supplements is that no one regulates what goes into them or the labeling of them so how "natural" they really are is somewhat dubious. Drinking green tea that you brew yourself is a good thing whether related to weight loss or not because of the beneficial anti oxidants in it. I understand your frustration, I've battled my weight all my life.
Do talk with your doctor. Don't give up. Try changing the way you think about it. Instead of focusing on losing weight, focus on doing things, eating things and living in a way that makes you FEEL better both physically and emotionally and unless there is an underlying medical reason, the weight loss will most likely come with the changes. Every woman's body is different. Love who you are, then help that wonderful woman gradually become who you want to be! Believe me, you are not alone. I'll be thinking about you!

You can go spend a lot of money on weight loss programs like you see on TV or magazines (all of which feature some thin celebrity with a small-print caution that says "results not typical") or you can try going to a health food store and playing amateur chemist, trying to pick and choose among the latest fad ingredients, hoping that you are getting the right proportions. If you take supplements in pill form, you will find that you are wasting a lot of your money - did you read all of the articles in the paper about pills (prescription, over the counter) not being absorbed (some only 20%) and being flushed away, many winding up in the water supply? These were national studies conducted by the Associated Press and others, using different labs who tested the water.

OR, you can go for a proven, research-based, liquid nutrional program that offers the best ingredients on the planet, which will give you more energy and top nutrition, and which is changing people's lives from a health standpoint. Reliv International has been well-regarded and well-reviewed as a highly ethical company by major business publications (Forbes, Fortune, etc.) and many of the products are patented (meaning nothing else out there has what they have). They are food, not drugs, and are taken by everyone - infants, kids, pregnant women, elderly, and everyone in between. There are a number of ways to get more information. There are presentations around the country on Tuesday nights, usually at a hotel or conference center, and there are a lot of distributors (many of them moms like you) who will support and educate you. If you tell me what town you live in, I can tell you the nearest meeting site. I'd be happy to give you more info as well on the general nutrition and the weight loss formulas. Most people who try Reliv never leave to go to another product - and many who have tried other things come to Reliv to stay.

I use Transitions products that are all natural and safe, no side effects! I've had a lot of success in a short period of time using these with the combination of following the Transitions Low-Glycemic (Glycemic Load) plan. Transitions offers all the necessary tools to become healthier for life, it is not a diet, but a lifestyle change. This link should take you to a page with all the components of the system:
http://www.marketamerica.com/aay/index.cfm?action=shoppin...
They even have an interactive website you can join to help you with menu plans and to track your success. If you have any questions, feel free to message me anytime! Good luck!

I lost a lot of weight by cutting out, and then limiting carbs. I used to eat next to nothing.. like a yogurt for lunch, and lose nothing, but when I took out the carbs, my body used the stored fat for energy. Now, I just eat a healthy BALANCED diet, which includes what I want in moderation.
BUT, that is how my body works. Talk to your PC and find out what would work for your body type.
Cutting out your favorite foods don't work- even if they are "bad" for you (read: chocolate) so find out how you can eat them so you satisfy those cravings.

Oh, yea, also- and the most difficult sometimes- break a sweat & exercise! It sounds like you do that already.

Good luck!

Hi A.,
Nutrisystem works well. It will cost about $350 for 35 days worth of meals and snacks. Working out at least 4 times a week, you will see a loss.
Best to you.

Hi A.,

I don't know of any products that help with weight loss, but I have a few thoughts.

If you are already going to a gym, get some personal training sessions to learn how to target your particular concerns. At the gym I see a lot of people "working out" while reading a book on the treadmill. A work out means an elevated heart rate over a longer period of time and you should feel at least some of the muscles you have used afterwards.

I think it is always best to look at what are you eating, and although I don't know much about weightwatchers, from what some friends tell me, I think that you can easily cheat.... almost like it is too good to be true. Look at your diet from a different perspective.

If I want to start loosing weight, I only eat small portions of the same meals my family is eating. I couldn't deal with cooking something different for me, but I do cook from scratch and we eat a lot of vegetables.

Good luck!

A., you mentioned WW and the gym. I lost weight on WWat age 49 and have kept it off for 7 years. Any chance you could try it a bit longer before reaching for supplements? It really does work. I work for them, too, so if you have any questions about the program, let me know. Hope I don't sound too preachy. I know it's a struggle to lose weight and keep it off! Good luck.

There's a book "It Must Be My Metabolism" by Reza Yavari MD that is amazing because it covers everything about lifestyle, attitude, food choices that contributes to not living at your ideal weight. It changed my life, and it opened my mind to delicious new food choices. Before I was never hungry and it worried me, and now I am, and food tastes amazing! and guilt free, and exercise is part of my day instead of an obligation I had to slog through. Liza in CT.
