My husband and I are currently using TXU as our electric company, but we are considering changing to save money. I was hoping to get some input from others who have switched and/or are using other electric companies!

Thanks,
V.

My husband and I changed to ignite this summer. It's cheaper than TXU and Reliant. We had TXU first, then switched to Reliant. Now I can honestly say we are saving money every bill. That's important for us as we were living at the time on my teacher's salary while he went to school full time. Here's his web page if you would like to read a little more about it. www.edsmith.igniteinc.biz

Hi V.,

I have an Electric Company; Smart Energy. Currently more then 60% of the population are still with TXU. I am very glad that your looking at your options and trying to save the most money for your family. I can help you finding the lowest rates in the market. Currently, I have residential rates in the 9 cents and that includes delivery charges (TDSP). As far as Commercial, we have gone as low as 5 cents. My rates are Fix, no monthly fees, and we will review your bills on a quarterly basis to make sure you are being accurately billed. We use Cirro. The rates are consistently the lowest available. We've never had problems with service or billing. Remember, if your electricity goes out TXU Electric Delivery will provide service no matter which company bills you.

Just another opinion, I started to switch to Reliant, and the problems I encountered with the service and billing dept's were insurmountable. I switched back to TXU and have been here ever since. I really don't like the higher rates, but at least when I get the bill it is accurate and they work with me if I have a question.

We have used two different companies besides TXU. We first swithced to Green Mountian. Their prices were high and we were not happy with them. We currently use Reliant and we really like them. Their prices are very competative and they offer 12 month rates.

We were w/ TXU switched to Relaint and now we are w/ Ignite. It saves 10% more than w/ Relaint or TXU). Also you are locked into your rate for 12months too and they say its not going to really change much after that..they will still compete to be the cheapest. Our service has been great and TXU still comes to service you if you have an outage. I was a rep but Im not a good sales person and really dont have the time so Im not doing it any more...however my father-in-law is a rep and can switch your service for you....its free to switch and you can always switch back for no cost if your not happy. We have had Ignite now for 1yr and 1month and are happy w/ our savings. Let me know if you decided to switch and I can help ya.

We use Cirro .. and love it!! Matter of fact, I received a discount of 8% today in the mail because I have been a customer for 12 months. May not seem like a lot .. but 8% is 8% more than I am getting any other place! There is a website and I am not sure of the name, but you can go there and compare all electrical companies side by side. That is how we chose Cirro.

I am a licensed energy consultant and will offer free consultant on how to save on your electric bill. I have averaged saved people 200~300 a year!
I will shop for the best deal for you.

A lot of people mentioned powertochoose, but there is so many hidden fees from different companies they do not list on the website.

The transfer is very easy, we will take care of everything from you.
The same company will do the repair and service as well.
Nothing changes except a lower bill.

I was thinking of putting the same question out. We are using Reliant currently and our contract has been fulfilled and they are offering to lock us in for another year at 13.9 cents per killowatt hour, but I kept feeling red flags on their offer. Yes, this would protect us against rate hikes, but with deregulation, if energy prices fall like gas prices are, we are also locked in at higher rates or penalized 100.00 to break our contract. Currently, I am reading through "terms and conditions" of local competitors on www.powertochoose.org and it is daunting. It appears that Star Tex Power may be the best rate, but I really need a company that will average the bills on an annual basis. For that I will go with a contract, so I am doing a lot of reading at that site. You can enter your own zip code to see which companies supply your area there and Star Tex may not be the best one for you.
Hope this helps!
