Are People Insane???

Okay, I just need to ask...are people insane? I just got to the office and dealt with them most insane form of road rage that I have EVER experienced. Sure, people cut you off, give you the finger etc... your typical stuff - BUT...today...that is a completely different story. This morning on my way into the office (and hour and a half commute) I had this woman cut me off to the point of almost removing my front end 8 TIMES!!!! She almost side swiped my car 3 times and kept giving ME the finger. Well, ofcourse when she cut me off one time, I did politely give her the finger back (wink wink) but OMG! There was a point where she came so close to the side of my drivers side door that I thought she was going to run right into me. Why would someone do this? Holy cow... it's monday morning lady! Okay, sorry ladies...I just had to put this out there. I was in tears and called the cops. The said that when I got to work that I needed to call the police again and have them come talk with me so I can do a road rage report. What on earth is that? What does it accomplish?

I hope everyone has a great day and please be careful out there for those oh so wonderful CRAZIES!

So What Happened?

Well, to answer the question - I did get her plate number. The police came out to my office already and made a report. They were able to pull her up and OH MY GOODNESS...she lives pretty close to me. Well, now...that is a bit scary. Anyway, not sure what they are going to do but they said that they will be investigating the issue... I am glad I reported it..

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

'I politely gave her the finger back', HAHAHAHAHA!! Good for you :)

I would have smiled, whipped out my cell, and called non emergency police and given them her license plate info, car type, and a description of her.

BUT, I don't have a cell, so I carry a bat in my car. Seriously. People ARE insane.

YAY MONDAYS, LOL!!

I think I would have allowed her to ram me in the side. Then she could have dealt with the consequences of an accident that was her fault. I have been known to slow down to 15 mph when someone decides they want to tailgate me or even slam my break at the last minute. I know I know really really bad. I have gotten better about just ignorning it or at the very least just slowing down even more when they want to be a racecar driver when they grow up. When someone flips me off I just smile and wave or I will blow them a kiss-I let you read inbetween the lines on that one. hahaha!

It happens everywhere, NOT JUST TEXAS..... DVMMOM and we are not all crazy.

We are in the Dallas area and my husband swears Houston is worse than Dallas. He is there once a month on business and said it's nuts.

Before the tollways went to no stopping the news showed where people would actually wreck the car, get stuck in the booth lane because they would not let someone in front of them.

I drive a high end sports car and you would not believe how many moms in minivans, cut me off and I swear try to hit me. The next group that targets me are men. What gives?? I took my turn driving a minivan and I've moved on now.

I just look at them like they are crazy or blow a kiss.

EDIT: DVMMOM... No problem, I know what you meant

Were you able to get her license plate number? Wow! I'm so glad I don't have to deal with the crazies on the road on a regular basis. It really is bad out there. About 6 years ago, I had a guy tailgating me so closely that he did eventually rear end me....going 70mph on a major highway in thick traffic. I was driving in the middle lane too, so there was no reason he couldn't go around me (except for the fact that there was wall to wall traffic, so why are you tailgating me!!! GRR!). I'm glad that she didn't hit you and that you are okay, other than being shaken up. I'm not sure what a road rage report is, but if you got her license plate number and a good description of the car, maybe they can charge her! Best of luck to you and stay safe!

Yes. People ARE insane. Road rage is really scary. Sorry that happened to you.
I had a crazy idiot (a few months ago) all UP in my back bumper, swerving all around, screaming, swearing, etc...this was on a straight-away, two lane road....I don't know WHERE the bleep he came from -- no intersections, etc!
People like that DO need to be reported. I mean, everyone has a bad day, but with half-ton vehicles at high speeds--someone could die!
Good luck & I hope your day gets better! :)

Oh how scary . . . I'm so sorry that happened, and you make me grateful that I no longer commute to work.

I used to notice that women were the worst offenders sometimes, and I never understood why!

I would fill out the report with the police. Hopefully you got the plate number. Maybe they will track her down and follow her for a bit. It's for her own good before she kills someone and has to live with that regret.

Good luck.

I'm sorry, but how does one politely give one the finger?

My husband would probably yell some obscenity at the person if they were doing that, and then make a point of trying to get a picture of their car and license plate with his phone.

Must be the heat - I used to work with a girl from Texas, she said everyone was crazy down there from the heat.

EDITED TO ADD: Glad you called the police - maybe that will be a wake-up call for that woman! And to T.F. - I never said people in Texas were crazy! A girl I knew FROM TEXAS said they were crazy!

Well... I HAVE to remain calm. Unless I want to loose my concealed carry license. Yes. People are nuts. But like 'Cash_Twins' stated... I think I would've let her hit me. I cannot legally flip the ol' bird. I cannot be caught screaming obscenities. I cannot be found following someone. I cannot get out of my vehicle during an accident unless it can cause me bodily harm by staying in my vehicle (or a police officer tells me to get out of my car). All because I have a concealed carry license.

I'm not sure what causes people to snap like that. I know I've experienced people like that quite a few times... Driving through Detroit especially.

I was going to say, "I hope you got her license plate number." People like that really are a danger on the road and if she could have caused a serious, serious accident. Who's to say that she wouldn't have caused a serious accident tomorrow if you hadn't filed that report? Good for you for calling, I'm proud of you. You did the right thing. I really pray that she doesn't have children in the car when she behaves this way, and I pray that she never does it to someone else who has children in the car and I doubly pray she never actually harms someone. But the fear alone that she makes people feel by trying to intimidate and bully while driving... that's just awful. At least now, you know she lives in the area and you can keep an eye out for her again. She was probably too enraged to think to get your license plate. :-) Irrational people rarely are clear-headed enough to think through things like this and the kind of trouble it can get them into.

After driving Rt 28 and the vicinity for 17 years in Northern Va, I've come to the conclusion that drivers are in fact quite insane.
You can take take a sweet L. old lady who'll got to church twice on Sunday and bake you brownies at the drop of a hat and put her behind the steering wheel in a car and she'll morph into a ravening finger wielding lane swerving maniac before your very eyes.
In construction zones where 2 lanes are narrowed into one I've seen people play chicken over who will be the next to merge into the lane to the point where side view mirrors were smashed - neither one was going to yield if it was the last thing they did.
I've seen people swerve across 5 lanes of traffic, pass cars IN THE LEFT SIDE ROAD MARGIN, only to swerve all the way back across the five lane so they can immediately exit - like they couldn't wait in the right hand lane 15 seconds till their exit came up.
I've seen a commercial van dart across a divided highway, get clipped on the bumper by oncoming traffic (I don't know if they were on the phone or what ever it was why they weren't paying attention) and saw the van flip and roll one and a half times to land upside down.
And you don't even want to KNOW about the kind of driving you can find between DC and Richmond on 95 on weekends during prime time beach weather (on the way to Va Beach / Outer Banks) - Oh My Lord - you take your life into your hands driving that bit of road.
It's just not worth dying over.
If you see a crazy coming up on you - get out of their way as best you can and let them go.

I swear you are right. If you have her drivers plate then make a report. They can give her a ticket for aggressive driving and she would then have to be accountable for thier actions. She would probably gets points on her license and her insurance rates will go up. May be after all of that she would stop acting likea retard on the road. I live in New Jersey and was in a car accident on June 17th. My minivan was totaled. A man in a big Ford F150 decided to cut across the parking lot and not watch where he was going. I hit him because all of a sudden there was a big truck in front of me. HE told me sorry I did not see you,he cut across the parking lot and was distracted by a bus on the other side of the parking lot. Luckily, not body was injured. Can you believe he parked his truck then went inside and went grocery shopping after the accident. I was very shook up. So,yes,I do feel people are crazy out there. God bless and be glad you were not injured.
