Are allergies possible in babies (9 months old) My son is showing all the signs and I feel sooo bad for him right now because he absolutely can't breathe while sleeping and during the day his nose goes crazy. I've been noticing a pattern when the weather is nice.

i know allergies are possible to things like pet dander and dust from an early age (infant) but i read somewhere that you can't be allergic to weather until you're a little older...not sure if thats true though. another reason he could be stuffy is if he's teething.

It is possible to have allergies that young. My first son had severe allergies at that age, and my second had breathing problems, not asthma related, due to allergies. National Jewish has great care for allergies. They accept a ton of insurances, too. We were even able to go while our kids were on Medicaid. I love my docs there! My son with the severe allergies sees Dr. David Fleischer. He's great! If I recall right, my second started Allegra under the care of one of Fleischer's colleagues around the age of 10 months for seasonal use. GL! I know a sick little guy is no fun, even if it is only allergies. Of course, it could just be teething, too. :)

HI S.,

Yes he could but as common as it is, it is not normal. Babies immune systems are supposed to be strong at this age. Synthetic chemicals can break down an immune system and cause allergy type symptoms. If you are interested in detoxing your home, I'll be glad to walk you through it. I detoxed my home several years ago and no one in our family gets sick anymore and my allergies are completely gone.

Hope this helps!

I do not see why not. My son showed an extreme reaction to dogs from about 6 months on. If it bothers a person it bothers them no matter what age. I would get to the doc though and make sure it is not a food thing.

Good luck!

our allergies have been a lot milder this year since we switched furnace filters. we used to get the cheapest filters, but this spring we followed someone's advice to try the more expensive filters that are specifically for allergens and mold. i think it makes a difference.

Yes, babies can definitely have allergies this young. Both my boys did. You can get liquid quercetin, a bioflavanoid found in onions, that is a natural anti-histamine. It works as well as benadryl but no side effects. It is mild enough for even young babies. Be careful, though, it stains everything bright yellow!
Good luck!

Hey,
yeah, it's unfortunately possible for a 9 month to have allergies. It's hard to sit back and watch, though. I work with a company that specalizes in minimizing allergies in the household and the air. I absolutly love their products and would be really happy to help get you set up with them. I live in CO as well, and I know how nasty the allergy season can be. I have seen a huge difference in the air-quality of my house since converting my home to these more natural, nontoxic products. Another thing that's great about these products, is this store is an online wholesale store, so you end up saving time and money, becuase you don't have to run to the store - they are sent directly to your door, and they are a better price than everyday grocery store brands. If you're interested, email me ____@____.com with a good time/day for me to get a hold of you so I can get you more info about these wonderful products, or ask for more information from my website www.livetotalwellness.com/joycita. Hope this can help!

Talk to your pediatrician if you haven't already. Weather changes often cause allergies, or just colds. Here are a few tips I offer and have learned from working my Shaklee Business.

#1) If you have not switched to non-toxic cleaners now is a good time. Get rid of all chemicals and strong cleaning supplies in your home.

#2) This is a multivitamin Powder. Allergies are often low immunity. This will help your baby strengthen his immune system:

When baby is old enough here is a tiny probiotic that would be easy to swallow. Probiotics build immunity.

#3) Alfalfa is a natural antihistimine. Here are tablets that can be ground up and sprinkled on food:

#4)Avoid being outside at night. I don't know why but allergies seem to be worse then.

#5) Keep the house dusted and vacuumed.......sorry about this one.....especially if you have pets that shed. It may help to bathe the pet weekly to remove dander.
