Babies and the Chiropractor

My little one has serious gas problems, acid reflux issues (slightly- she's on meds for it) and she still has a lot of newborn flinches to the point that we have to swaddle her so tightly I wonder how she is still breathing.

I have a couple friends who have found the chiropractor to be helpful so I was just checking on everyones experiences. My Dr says if it works- great, but her PA says no.

Thanks for the suggestions and info!!

My daughter got an ear infection as a baby. Gave her antibiotic after antibiotic and nothing. I was tired of putting her through that. She hated it, I hated it. So I took her to my chiropractor. Hasnt had one since. Shes almost 8.

I have been adjusted since I was a child, and my children have been adjusted since birth! I've seen it help my kids and others with ear infections, colic, gas, torticollis, asthma, allergies, and bed wetting, among other things. Try it!

For the person who doesn't see how it can help, the nervous system controls all bodily function and is housed inside the spinal column. If there is a vertebrae out of place it can cause nervous system interference.

I'm a pediatric chiropractor in the KC area, and I'm happy to hear so many great testimonials about taking babies to get adjusted.

Most pediatric chiropractors have received extra training. To find someone in your area who has this extra training, go to:

Good luck! There are a lot of great ped chiros in St. Louis (that's where my husband and I went to school).

I have taken my now 9 month old since about 6 weeks in age. He was just always wrapped up in this tense little ball and miserable. It did wonders. My chiro has a son just a little younger, hers was actually born on my due date, and she adjusts him, so I trust her completely. Just be sure that you take your little one to a chiro trained to work on babies.

yes take her!!
The chiropractor is wonderful for little ones and old alike! Its amazing how many things they can fix. How much better the little ones feel after. My oldest was a year old the first time he went for ear infections. All my other ones were about 2-3 months.

A Dr. will not recommend a chiropractor... a chiropractor will always tell you if its out of thier hands to see a Dr.

My brother had acid reflux so bad he puked the first year of his life to the point that he was severly underweight. My mom took him to the chiropractor and he never puked again! Definately do it. I take my kids in every 6 weeks starting when they are just days old.

my friend swears by a chiropractor! She has taken her kids since they were newborns. I wish I had known about this when my oldest was a baby and so sick with ear infections I would have tried anything..

A chiropractor will not hurt a baby...they can only help. If they don't seem to help you are not out anything...no harm done. It says you are in stl. A good one in wentzville is ###-###-####. If that's too far to go they may be able to refer you to a reliable one in your area. I believe in drs/peds but I am a true believr in treating the cause not the symptom.

My husband is a Chiro, in fact he went to school right there in St. Louis! If you are interested, I think he knows someone that specializes in Pediatric Chiropractic, send me a private message and I will ask him.

My daughter has been adjusted since the day she was born. We have never had acid reflux, an ear infection (that one is huge as we swim three times a week), has slept through the night since she was 7 weeks old, and is rarely sick. I would like to credit for it by saying all that is because of my awesome mothering but most likely it's because she has been adjusted regularly.

As a side note: They will not adjust your baby like you see them adjust adults. My husband used to adjust my daughter with just two fingers. Now she loves it and asks to be adjusted, which is fine....not so fine when she tries to adjust other people!

Yes, do it!
My oldest son has big problems with constipation for the first three months after he was born. He was so twisted after the 25 hour deliver. He is now eleven and we joke all the time that the chiropractor "over adjusted" him when he makes his trips to the bathroom.
My youngest son was a preemie and had to be removed via c-section. It took forever to get him out. I don't know if he was stuck under my ribs or what the deal was but his legs were twisted. We took him to the chiropractor within the first week. After the visits he appeared to be comfortable and would sleep so well.
I would check out the chiropractor first. Our pediat. knew about our chiro and also recommended him.

Oh wow best thing we ever did for our son...three trips to the chiro and he was off reflux medication. He was so tight and out of allignment in his back. He was also a happier and better sleeping little man also! Make sure yo go to one that can work on pediatrics. Some don't

My son had reflux issues. Would wake up after a couple hours of sleep and throw up. I was not satisfied with the solution to put him on medication. This is just masking the problem in my opinion.

I took him to a chiropractor and his rib cage was torked. Probably had been since birth. After a few adjustments no more problems.

Highly recommend!

I fail to see how popping on a baby's delicate spine is going to help her gas issues.
