I am using the jars to make night lights for my kids' birthday party this weekend. I have a couple questions:
1) what is the best/fastest way to clean the glue gook from the label off the jar? It's not "gummy" glue...it's pretty durable. They have already been soaked in super hot water, but it didn't help...
2) what is the best adhesive to use to adhere fabric (just a simple cotton) to the metal lids? (I don't have a glue gun, if that's the answer) I have E6000...would that work?
ETA: the jar itself won't be covered with fabric, just the lid. And the design element will be inside the jar, so the icky glue has to come off. It makes a cloudy haze where light should be shining thru :)

Craft glue should work for gluing the fabric. As for getting the glue from the label, if you're going to cover it with fabric does it really matter or than feeling the need to start with a "blank slate" (which I COMPLETELY understand, btw... :) )
Goo gone or Spray N Wash works good for the glue removal. I remember from my days in elementary school - never mind how long ago that was - we used Elmer's school glue to glue felt to the lids to make hats for our Santa jars...

Try Goo Be Gone, they sell it at Michael's craft store, Walmart and also at the Dollar Tree in the house hold items/ automotive area.
In regards to the fabric I am sorry but a glue gun is best and you can get a small one at the dollar tree or 99 cent store.

I've always found that window cleaner, scrub, window cleaner...works eventually;) Also, running in hot dishwasher, remove immediately at end of cycle, put dishwashing liquid directly on, scrub off with fingers. it's really a repetitive process.
