HI there. I am 17 weeks pregnant and already have a son and daughter. We have decided not to find out the sex of this baby until delivery day (can't wait!! hehehe). Anyways, looking for opinion on a boy name. What do you think of:

Nicholai Michael

Nicholia is pronounced Nick-o-lie.

Our girl name is:

McKenzie Rose.

BTW... our other two children are Ian Cooper and Hailey Renee

Thanks a bunch!!

Honestly, I'm not a fan of trendy names or names that have weird spellings. I always think about those poor kids as adults and having to constantly spell their name for people or have it mispronounced. I prefer more traditional names - I think they sound more respectable.

I think a great place to look for ideas is on the lists of popular names back in the 1930's/40's. There are a lot of long forgotten names on there that are great!!

Though I like Nicholai, he will grow up having to spell his name 2-3 times every single time he introduces himself. I would hate having a name no one could spell easily.

Just a thought...

Congratulations regardless!

I like McKenzie Rose. I am not a fan of the spelling of Nicholai. What about Nikolai? If I saw his name, I would think it would be pronounced "Nik-ol-eye". So just be prepared that he will always have to correct people mispronouncing his name.

I like them! I agree with the other person that people will want to call him Nick. We liked Nicholas for our son but made it his middle name because we didn't want people to call him Nick (not that Nick is horrible, but we preferred the longer version of the name).

They are fine but don't spell Nicholai all crazy and expect people to change the rules of grammer. The second way you have it written is pronounced Ni-kol-ia., not Nicholai. Are you Romanian? That name is not well thought of because of the notorious dictator.

Love the names! We have 3 girls and a boy. We knew with all of the girls that they were girls, so we only had to choose one name. With the baby, we decided to not find out, but didn't want to deal with the stress of choosing 2 names, only to not use one of them anyway. We decided to choose one gender-neutral name, and 2 gender-specific middle names. We landed on Cooper as a first name (which I can see you love too, lol). Since he was a boy, his middle name is my husband's first name..Daniel. Had he been a girl, he would have Cooper Isabel. My girls are Jaelyn Olivia, Kinsley Monroe, and Delanie Austyn. Oh, and I wanted to add, that not finding out the sex of our last was the absolute best thing ever! There was so much excitement in the air the day he was born. All of our births were special in their own rights, but this one was beyond belief. Good luck to you :)

I agree with Dawn H in that Nicholai looks feminine. That was my first thought too, that it's a girl's name. Another thing to consider is that Nicholai is going to be misspelled and mispronounced often. Whatever you decide, go with your what you like and what makes you happy. Best Wishes!!!

Congratulations! All of your children have beautiful names and all that matters is that YOU like it! :) Momma knows best. How exciting to not find out. That is what my husband and I plan to do when we start our family. Surprises in life are few and far between especially good ones, so we plan on letting it be a surprise! :)

I think Nicholai is a great name. Personally I always like it if the name has special meaning for the parents or is a family name ( my son is William Angus. William for my dad and grandfather and Angus just because we liked it and his father has Scottish heritage).

What's important is that YOU love the name and you think it suits your new little guy! I think Nicholai Michael is a great name- just be prepared for teachers and other people to try and call him 'Nick' for short!

Nicholia looks feminine. I would avoid that spelling for a boy.

I love Rose as a middle name. I love Nicholai, too. Very distinctive. Would you call him Nick? Congrats on your newest addition.

Don't worry about people trying to shorten his name. I have an Andrew and Nathan. When people try to shorten either name, the boys quickly correct them. Now that Nathan is a teen, he has other nicknames anyway, but still primarily goes by Nathan, not Nate. In the long run, your child determines what he will be called.
I like both names, but as someone else said, it depends what you like since you will have to use them. Try to use a traditional spelling whenever you can, because it is no fun having to spell your name all the time!

Congratulations on not finding out the gender, I always said I'd do this but by the time it came down to it, I just HAD to know!
