I have been desperately searching for a place to have my baby shower in the mid cities area or nearby areas towards haslet or eagle mountain areas [I'm from North Richland Hills]. I'm planning to have it on May 19 and I'm expecting about 30 women along with around 30 children so I'm wanting somewhere nice that can also keep children between the ages of 1 & 5 entertained.
Well first off, I just asked for suggestions on a place, I didn't ask for negative feed back. I am having two showers, one with family then one with friends. A grandparent is planning one and one of my spouse's co-workers is supposed to be planning the other but since our first location has fallen through, she has asked me to find a place that I would like to have it. Although, I do feel as though I am planning the whole thing myself at the moment, that is not anyone's business..I do not have the luxury to have friends who can afford to throw me one since majority of my friends have a kid or two of their own, with that being said that is why I am expecting kids - I am not going to expect 25 people to find a baby sitter plus my older child will be there so it will be nice for her to have the other kids to play with.
I did drive around today looking at parks and recreation facilities. I think a park would be a good idea, I'm just hoping for the weather to not be too hot or windy. I've crossed ideas online as far as entertaining children at a baby shower that is held indoors so I'm asking this question to find out if there are places nearby I haven't thought to look into that I may prefer to have the shower rather than the park.
I did go to the NRH centre today, that was my favorite that I viewed today for sure. Very nice area! I was not told about the option for kids to go into the play area during the shower. I liked the upstairs room as well as the downstairs with the patio option. So far that is my favorite option but it is a bit pricey and has a lot of restrictions to being able to decorate and so on so that's why I am still looking at other options.
I just need to find something ASAP so we can get invites printed and sent out!
I'm not sure how to go about room rentals in a church, but that does sound like it may be a good idea..I know that many churches now days have a large indoor play area for the kids.

Our new North Richland Hills Rec Center is a great place. You can bring toys and the little ones can play or ask about putting them in the care center there. They have a huge room there or a smaller room up stairs. It's all very nice.
Edit To Add: did you drop by the library? They have a community room there also. Our Green Valley park has a gazebo/pavillian and of course things to play on. You should be good that time in May but every place will be filling up soon with graduation parties. Good luck!
What about an outdoor playground? The kids can be entertained while the ladies watch and chat.
And who cares if you are throwing your own shower. I just don't see what the big deal is! Congrats on the baby!!
I hope you are not throwing your own baby shower. Very tacky. Please rethink. Family or close friends should be doing this not you.
Usually the person hosting the shower has it in her home. If her home is not suitable then maybe she could do it at a park or the community center or something like that. But it's not really YOUR job to figure it out, you're supposed to be the guest of honor!

A baby shower, like a bridal shower, is usually an adult occasion. Other than nursing infants, children generally aren't included.
No one needs to get a sitter, they just leave the kids home with daddy (or another friend or family member) for a few hours that day.
Of course if you WANT 30 kids at your shower then I guess that's your business, but it's just not something I have ever seen done, and of course it would be much easier to find a place to have it.
Who will be entertaining and supervising the children during that time, while you and your friends are playing games, visiting and opening gifts? That's something else you'll need to think about.
I love my kids but I also look forward to attending events where I can spend some fun quality time with my girlfriends. Even if my kids were invited I would leave them home with my husband, much more fun for everyone!
What about people that don't have a close friend or family to throw it?
Can you do it at a park with a playground and plenty of shade? Seems like the best, most affordable option to me.
Hell, I had to do all of the planning for my own bridal shower - I just had the invites say my mom's name for the RSVP.
I love the idea of a park. The kids can play and be out of the way having fun while the ladies have adult time.
Is there a park near you with a pavilion or covered space? Or even a restaurant with some outdoor space. Or at least one where you can set up a few tables with lots of dollar store toys and coloring books?

I love all the suggestions, but you know what can be pretty fabulous. The community buildings at neighborhoods. I am drawing a big fat blank, but if any of your friends/guests pay HOA fees they probably have one (like a club house). They are typically beautiful, furnished like a living room, have access to a kitchen and if someone lives there have access for free.
Usually kid friendly in that they don't exclude kids, but they don't typically have a play area with toys, but sometimes they may have a park nearby.
Hire a teenage babysitter to entertain them for you all:)
I'm not from your area...but what about a park? Plenty of space to run around and a playground to keep the kids occupied...and room for everybody to socialize and eat. Just a thought!
Hi - I really like the Itallianis restaurant at 183 and Precinct Line. I doubt they have anything planned for kiddos but the food and ambience is great and they are usually pretty flexible with requests. I also think the NRH centre or Keler Pointe might be good if you are going to have kiddos. B
