Bags Under Eyes

I am 32 and need to start taking care of my skin! I have dry skin and oily skin; dry out of the shower until I put on moisturizer then oily as the day goes on. I am just starting to get some minor "wrinkles/creases" by my mouth, eyes and between my eyebrows. I have always kind of had bags under my eyes (just me) but I want help with that without surgery. I have fair, very sensitive skin and am allergic to everything. I have blotchy skin so I really need peels and/or something to even out my skin tone. I don't have bad skin, I really don't need foundation, I only use it to even out my skin.

I am looking for a skin regimen that reverses time and helps preserve my skin from aging.
I am looking for something to tighten/firm my skin.
I want daily and/or weekly scrubs to exfoliate.

Advice, suggestions & experiences please on products that you have used and work, not just products you may sell.

Thank you!!!!

What can I do next?

I have used Mary Kay's Timewise line ever since they brought it out. I have MUCH fewer wrinkles than my 5-year younger sister, no crowsfeet yet and my skin is super soft to the touch. If you'd like, I'll be more than happy to send you some samples of it &/or direct you to the website that gives you details of the products. I do sell, but I only sell because I'm convinced the product does exactly what the company claims.

I'm in the same boat as you, learning a little late in life (29) how important it is to actually take care of my skin.

My face has always been extremely dry except for certain "oil-zones" where I tend to break-out (still!). So the first thing I did was invest in a decent moisterizer. Aveeno Positively Radient daily moisturizer is what I randomly picked...actually I got the Walmart knock-off version for half the price...and it's worked really nicely. It seems to give my face a bit of a glow and some very subtle color (which I need), though that last part might be my imagination.

Also, my mom (who looks at least a decade younger than her 63 years) highly suggested I start using Oil of Olay Regenerist now for wrinkle prevention. I don't really have any wrinkles yet, but the extremely fine lines I used to have around my eyes have since disappeared.

So every night I start by washing my face with an Aveeno exfoliating scrub. Then I towel dry and apply the Olay Regenerist on my face and let it absorb for a minute or two before going back over and applying the moisturizer on my face and neck. This makes my skin feel absolutely dreamy the next day.

For my oily spots (mainly my chin), I use those individual packets of alcohol swabs they have in doctor's offices (I get them dirt-cheap at Costco) and simply swipe the area maybe twice a day. The alcohol cleans it nicely and keeps the oil from building up. And since that area naturally oily, the alcohol never overdries it. It's not something you'd want to do all over your face, but for very focused areas it actually works great.

But the one thing that has really made the biggest change for me (hands down) has been Bare Minerals make-up. I have psoriasis, so my skin is incredibly sensitive as well. I also have fairly blotchy skin due to some acne scarring, freckles, etc. The traditional liquid foundation I used to apply would make my dry skin look dryer and my oily skin...oilier. I had to buy an extremely light shade to prevent any visible lines of demarkation so I ended up looking like a pale, unhealthy ghost most of the time.

When a friend gave me a makeover and used Bare Minerals, I thought I'd never looked so healthy and beautiful. I was hooked. The starting kit I bought was $60 (ouch) but that was several months ago and I still have a LOT of product left. I doubt I'll need to purchase more until Christmas time, at the earliest. Plus, the brushes that came with the kit will always be good to use, so all I'll need to refill is the actual make-up.

It's hard to explain what this stuff is like (I'm sure you can find an info-mercial for it on their site, or youtube at the very least) but trust me when I say that it goes on quick and easy and feels amazingly light. You'll look like yourself, only with healthy, glowing, EVEN skin.

Also, since I've started using it I haven't had one single break-out. What I thought was adult-acne was (sadly) just the dirty, bacteria filled make-up I was using before.

So...wow, that was a lot but I wanted to share my recent discoveries. I feel like such a grown up now that I'm doing all this stuff, lol. Of course, I'm telling you all of this from my heart and do not personally sell Bare Minerals make-up. I bought mine from the local Ulta but you might get a good deal online if you look around.

Best of luck to you, Sweetie!

I have found Mary Kay's Timewise Age-Fighting Moisturizer to be the best thing I've ever used. I can feel the difference in the texture of my skin when I use it--hydrated and smooth rather than dry, but not oily-feeling. I put it on after I wash my face at night, then under my make-up in the morning. I ran out of it recently and used my old moisturizer and it wasn't anywhere near as good--I was really glad when I got a new tube! I get mine from Judy at ###-###-####, in case you don't know someone who does Mary Kay. I also use their Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser--they have two different cleansers, and this one worked visibly better with my skin type, plus it has a tiny bit of exfoliant in it, so you get that morning and night when you wash your face, so it's gentle but consistent. Those are the only two MK products that I use--I get my make-up at the drug stores just like I always did, but got to the point in life where taking extra-good care of my skin is a priority and worth spending a little extra on.
Hope this helps!

I have the same skin as you. I just thought I'd let you know that I got rid of the bags under my eyes by changing what I eat. Who knows...maybe you have the same issue I had. I always had bags under my eyes and sometimes it was worse than other times. I changed my diet due to getting migraines and the bags went away too. I stopped eating all the ingredients on this website (hidden names for msg) http://www.msgmyth.com/hidename.htm. These ingredients are sadly in EVERYTHING. Just thought you might find that useful.

I really like the Korres line from greece. its all natural and i lke the pomegranate oil free moisturizer and they also have a yogurt line. you can find online at ulta and others. Expensive, but lasts as you do not need a lot of product. They have masks and scrubs as well. I got sample pack to try different things to see what worked best.

Also I love bare essentuals powder mineral foundation matte with sunscreen and spf 25 powder. I live in AZ so I need sunscreen 24/7! Most kinds get too greasy, even if oil free.

Do you really have "bags" or is it hollowness under your eye? Hollowness creates a shadow under your eye in certain lighting making it appear dark. I thought I had bags but found out I had hollowness that was getting worse with age. Anyway if it's true bags I don't know what you could do and suggest visiting a plastic surgeon to find out your options are. Some offer a free consultation. You might be surprised what can be done. I got some filler put in under my eyes almost two years ago and they still look great. It cost me 400 dollars and was worth every penny to me.
I also suggest using a micro cleansing cloth. It exfoliates without anything but using the cloth and water. It's AWESOME. You can get it on Amazon. I think it will help remove all that unevenness if used regularly.
Best Regards,
C.

I love, LOVE Clinique products. I started using them at 11.......I'm pushing 49 and I look early 30's.

Now, I use the Repariwear Series. My daughter (almost 16) uses the regular wash and gel moisturizer.

For 2 weeks now, I have used the newest Laser gel which is compared to a laser treatment and I love the feel of my skin. The higher end Clinique products are at Neimans and Nordstrom.

We are faithful with our routine at night with removing makeup, etc. Cleaning skin, moisturizing.

We drink a ton of water here also.... Water, Water Water.....good for you.

As for scrub, the Target brand Apricot scrub is great!

I don't know how to help with the bags, other than follow a proper diet, exercise and sleep program.

An easy, cheap, and great at home peel:
1 paper towel or facial pad. 1/4 fresh lemon. 1 tsp granulated sugar. Fold the paper towel into a palm size sqare. Sprinkle the sugar on top. Squeeze the fresh juice all over it. After cleansing with warm water, gently scrub everywhere in little circles. The lemon juice is full of anti-oxidants and the citrus is a natural deep cleanser. The sugar exfoliates all those little dead skin cells that make your skin rough and rubbery. Helps with blackheads, acne, discoloration, softness, pore size, etc...plus it tastes like lemonade! Rinse with warm water and apply lotion immediately.

Sounds like you need to wear a sunscreen to help prevent more sun damage and wrinkles. My dermatologist recommended the Oil of Olay moisturizer with SPF 15. It's great because it's not greasy so you can even wear it under make-up. They have it for oily skin, combo skin, etc. I love it , highly recommended.

I found the best thing I have ever done for my skin is drink a ton of water. I tried everything and nothing worked really good and boy does it get expensive. Then I started drinking a lot of water for nutrition reasons and the 1st thing I noticed was how great my skin looked.
