Is it okay to put bedding on a wedding registry?

Im getting married in a few months (we cut down the engagement time) and we are doing our registry now. I can see things like throw blankets or couch pillows but I feel weird putting a bedding set on my registry. When I say bedding set I just mean sheets, comforter, blanket, etc not furniture or anything.

What do you ladies think?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

So I've already added sheets and a beautiful comforter set from Macy's! :D Thanks ladies!

Idk why I thought it was weird. I just did, can't explain it :-/

I don't think I've ever seen a registry that did NOT include bedding. The last registry I received actually had two sets :-) You are fine.

Why not? Because of what goes on between the sheets?

I LOVE my bedding from my wedding registry. It is the only time I'll ever be able to have 800 thread count Tommy Hilfiger sheets and matching duvet cover. Everytime I take it out of the dryer and hug it, I think of my generous cousins who gave it to us.

I put EVERYTHING I wanted and thought that maybe I wanted on my registry. We didn't have much, just hodgepodge stuff from college...and we invited everyone we knew to our wedding. I didn't want anyone to look at the registry and be bummed that the only thing left was potholders :) Besides, what isn't purchased as a gift, you can purchase on your own after the wedding using gift cards and whatnot and most places will give you a one time 10 or 20% off your registry items. So, yea. totally put sheets, blankets, towels, washcloths. I even put bathroom stuff on mine...curtain, toothbrush holder, soap dish, cup and toiletbrush holder....and even got the toiletbrush holder :)

Yes, if that's what you really want. Probably everyone knows that you sleep! It's not tacky - even in "Fiddler on the Roof" the parents gave the wedding couple a feather bed and announced it to the whole reception! LOL. Anyone who's not comfortable can give you a microwave or candlesticks. It would NOT be okay to put lingerie on there - that's for close friends who give you a shower.

Truth be known, in this day and age I think the "rules" about registries and such have pretty much been outdated. Heck you can register for a honeymoon so why not bedding?

And congrats on the wedding!!!! Hope it will be a nice day and not 110 degrees!

This is a common wedding gift and should be listed on the registry.

I've seen lots of registries that included bedding!

I just recently bought a sheet set from a registry for a wedding gift.

Why do you feel weird? Registeries are so people know what you want! If you want a bedding set, add a bedding set!

I have seen bedding on registries a lot. The only thing I wonder is are you guys already living together, raising kids? Like you already have bedding? I mean in most people's minds the registry is to set up the new couple, not remodel.

I say this because in that case groups of people are less likely to go in on groupings to make sure you get a set of....because they already know you have a functioning household. So they see a mixer, oh I guess they don't have one, they buy it. If they see a sheet set that is in their budget they will get the sheet set and not even pay attention that it is part of a matching set. Then you either have to return the sheet set or buy the rest of the stuff that matches it.

So just my opinion, you may want to stay away from bedding sets if your intent it not to purchase everything that isn't gifted.

Yes, you can put bedding on a registry.

Who wouldn't want some nice sheets? Or a coordinated sheet set with comforter? Make sure you put on the really nice ones!

Congratulations!

Heck yes it's ok. That's what showers are for. Bedding is expensive. Let someone buy it for you.

When a good girlfriend gave me a bedding set, I wrote a saucy thank you note to her!

Yes. Put anything you want on there. Put something you want but would never buy for yourself. Marriage is about starting over and building a home with the one you love.

I see it all the time, I only ask that you make sure there are an abundance of $20 or less items. I read an article once that said only allow 10% to be over 100 or more, 20% to be more than 75, 40% under 20-30 and the remainder (30%) between 30-75. This allows all guests to feel comfortable with their budgets and allows the more "generous" guests to purchase or cut checks and now one feels off put by your choices. So, bedding would probably be part of the 10% of 100 plus based on prices these days, but I like the Damask brand and it is pricey so I only have two sets.

I think I found the article on www.theknot.com

I think it is the one time you can pick out a matching set with curtains, comforter, bedspread, sheets, bolster pillows, shams, bed skirt, towels, night stand covers, etc...that are all the same set. You know, coordinates. I had this one time and totally loved going to bed at night.

I had a bedspread, large pillows with matching shams, coordinating bolsters, small throw pillows, etc...plus the sheets, blankets, bed skirt, curtains, mini blinds, etc...all coordinated. The wall color was even one out of the bedspread's flowers. It was a lovely room. Not too girly since the main color was Raisin, a dark brownish purple. My towels in the master bathroom were raisin and dark rosy pink. The pink were mine of course and the dark brown raisin were hubby's. I did have some light blue hand towels in the mix too to offset the blue flowers in the bedspread.

The whole set was about $500 and I could not see spending that kind of money on a set like this. So it was really fun to get the pieces I got. I think I spent less than $50 on the whole part I didn't get.

I think it would be one of those things that either they would get or it wouldn't get picked at all. It

There is no reason not to put it on there unless you absolutely don't need it.

Yes - it's just fine. I've seen bedding of one kind or another on almost all of the registries I've bought for in the past several years. We had it on ours, and we received it. Definitely not weird!

I've seen furniture, too, but I'm not so sure about that!

put it on there. I went to a shower recently. the list at the registry was like 5 pages long. And I loved it. It had real things that you need in everyday life. not just the fancy towels and dodads. but things like extension cord, a garden hose, sheets for not just the newly weds but sheets for their extra bedroom. so yes in answer its ok to put it on the list lol. and an fyi you could put the furniture also. sometimes groups go in together. at a baby shower 4 of us went in together on a babycrib that was several hundred dollars. couldn't have done it myself but going in on a pieces is great.
