I did weight watchers and lost all mine. I am a small person and had put on 60 lbs. I lost 20lbs quickly then everything slowed down. Doctors say the Healthiest way to lose weight is portion control. That exactly what weight watchers does. Its great, it works, its healthy.

Sorry, P.. I know nothing about those products, but what worked for me was exercise. I didn't even really diet; just tried to stop eating when I was full. I would spend some time on an eliptical machine and joined Curves which combines strength training with aerobic activity. Burned the fat right off me. Plus, they track your progress monthly which was a super motivator. Of course, you get out what you put in. There were a lot of ladies there that were more interested in socializing than breaking a sweat. But I lost 60 pounds in under a year. It's my experience that there are no quick fixes. Best of luck!

I'm not a big fan of weight loss suppliments, as I've seen how they can ruin a person's metabolism and create false results that don't stick.

My Mom and Aunt, got really into the Phen Fen craze and lost a ton of weight...only to find out that it was increasing their heart rates and putting them at risk for serious health issues. Both went off of it, and both have had huge issues with weight loss and heart issues.

So, when I needed to lose 50lbs after my son was born I turned to a healthy diet and workout plan that included 30-60 minutes of activity at least 3 days a week. Weight loss is best done over time and not quickly, as my OBGYN said the faster you lose it, the faster you'll gain it back when you stop dieting.

Check out this website, it has a lot of great information...and I used it to create my own at home workout that included my then infant son, and even now he enjoys our walks to the park!

Hi P.,
My husband and I have both had amazing results with the Flat Belly Diet from Prevention Magazine. We did not take any supplements. We started the week before Thanksgiving. My husband has lost 22 pounds so far and I've lost 6 - I only wanted to lose 5 - I have to eat more now. It has a TON of food - HEALTHY food. You get to eat chocolate, nuts, avocado, seeds - all our favorite foods - in fact you HAVE to eat one serving at each meal to aid in the fat loss. I lost about 7 inches!!! My husband went from XL shirts to M shirts! I cannot rave enough about this diet - our family is Italian, so the holiday season is HUGE with LOTS of HUGE food and we still lost weight steadily through December. We've tried, Hoodia, and Slimfast and Jenny Craig and Nutrisystem and Evercleanse and several other supplements - none of them worked for more than 2 weeks and they all cost $$$$$. This is just food. Lots of it. Good luck.

Talk to your doctor about this (or any product) before using it. But I suspect that any product is inferior (and potentiall harmful) to following a healthy diet (tons of unprocessed fruits and veggies, whole grains and lean protein) and getting regular exercise (at least 3-4 workouts per week, cardio plus strength training, but if you're dealing with 35 pounds, doing it 5-7 times per week is better). You're not planning on using a diet product for the rest of your life, are you? They're just a crutch, and may not even help. The key is finding a lifestyle (diet + daily or nearly daily physical activity) you can sustain for the rest of your life. Not killing yourself or starving yourself, but something healthy that you look forward to and makes you feel good -- forever. Stay away from the gimmicks, go with the healthy. Good luck.

I also don't like to take anything "synthetic" like weight loss pills etc. I had my baby 15 months ago and wanted to loose my weight within 1 year. I just made small adjustments, such as eating healthier and slightly smaller portions. Don't get me wrong, I was not starving myself, just better choices and a bit less. I also started walking. I put her in the jogger and walked approx. 20 - 40 minutes, maybe twice or three times per week. I also need to mention, that I started drinking Monavie Acai Juice at the same time (and it is all natural). Acai helps with weight loss and many other things (like more energy, which I could use with three little ones, all under the age of 8). If you want more information on that let me know. Hope this helps.

Hi P.

No I haven't heard anything bad about Osolean or Glycoslim just that they are powder drink. If you like chocolate let me know. I have a friend who had a chocolate experience its rich in antioxidants. Also is infused with benefical herbs which promote healthy blood sugar levels, healthy teeth and gums, supports healthy weight loss and its not a powder drink. Plus she had regular meals. Let me know if you're interested. SM Massage Therapist

Good Morning,

I recommend that you log onto site NAET.com. NAET is a group of allergists around the world who treat and elimiate allergies. Weight gain is a sign of allergies. I realize that you just had a baby, but I found that with weight loss programs, after a while, the weight returns. I did not have sucessful weight loss until I began treating and elimating Allergies (food allergies). NAET allergists are the only doctors in the world who elimiate allergies. I have been trying to loose weight my entire life and have tried everything on the market, and I wouldn't loose weight, or I would loose weightand gain it back and then some. With NAET you are going to the root or the core of the problem with your body. Whenever there is a health concern there are 2 things to address: 1. Deficiencies, and 2. Allergies. When both are addressed the body naturally normalizes.

Be Well.

You probably won't like what I have to say. The diet industry is only concerned with making money off of people who are desperate enough to do anything to lose weight. The only way you will lose weight and fat, and keep it off, is a combination of diet and exercise. But the diet industry doesn't want you to change your diet and exercise because that would be less money in its pocket. Everyone wants an instant fix instead of doing the required work to lose weight and keep it off.

Start with slow changes, like eating 90-95% of your normal portions. That way you are still eating the foods you like and not feeling deprived. Slowly incorporate more fruits, veggies, and whole grains into your diet. Also drink more water and less soda. If you drink alcohol, try to cut down on that. It's amazing how many calories are in alcoholic drinks. Do little things to cut the fat from your diet like taking the skin off of chicken. Cut back on restaurant meals. There is so much hidden fat, and more calories than you can imagine, in restaurant foods

Take the money that you would have spent on those "fat loss products" and buy a good set of comfortable walking shoes and some cute workout wear. Like with the dietary changes, start slowly with getting some exercise. Walk around the block at first. I don't know how old your youngest is; but you can push him or her in the stroller. As you get used to exercising, slowly increase the time/distance you're walking. If there is a nearby gym that provides child care, you could work out there.

A healthy and sensible weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week. By making your diet healthier and exercising, you will keep the weight off. Your family will also benefit from the healthier meals. In addition, you will be setting a great example for your kids every time you do some exercise.

Hi P. - I would beware of any of the quick weight loss products or diets. They are doing things that are unnatural in your body and can be dangerous in the long term. In addition, these quick weight loss pills cannot be sustained over time. Learning to make healthy food choices and incorporating more exercise than you do now, can be sustained for the long haul, and you can keep the weight off for the long haul (healthier inside and out). I began learning about how to make healthy choices a few years ago and exercising. It was a lifestyle change that I know now is giving more confidence than ever that not only can I stay trim, but I am at lower risk than most people to get any of the dreadful diseases we're seeing children and adults get every day. It started when I began eating Juice Plus capsules (they are not synthetic vitamins, but actually the micronutrients from 28 fruits, veggies, berries and grains reduced to powder form and placed in capsules). I also drink their Complete nutritional shake mix just about every morning for breakfast which starts my day off right. The rest of the time, I have just learned what's good for me. Jack Medina's Nutripoint system is a great rule to follow to help learn what's good and create healthy eating patterns. http://www.jackmedina.com/products.htm
Check Out Juice Plus info at 800-942-1260 or www.wethriveonjuiceplus.com.
I'd say good luck - but it's not luck at all - it's a decision you make and you can do it with small changes over time, or fairly quickly if you make significant changes in your lifestyle now.

The following is an excerpt from an article published by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) regarding a recent ruling against diet supplement makers and false claims for their products. It supports what we keep telling people about false and misleading claims by advertisers and the need for good scientific published research to support claims being made.

Four Companies Get Heavy Fines
Now that you're well one your way to fulfilling those New Year's resolutions to shed some pounds, the government says don't count on a diet pill to help. Last month ('07) the Federal Trade Commission fined the marketers of four weight-loss drugs a collective $25 million for false advertising claims. Despite that, the pills - Xenadrine EFX, CortiSlim, One-A-Day WeightSmart and TrimSpa - will remain on the store shelves.

Refuting the Claims
"It is resolution time again, isn't it?" said FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras. "We're implementing our resolution to fight back against companies that use deceptive advertising claims." Some of the products marketed their claims through infomercials or celebrity endorsements. The late Anna Nicole Smith, for example, endorsed TrimSpa. "Testimonials from individuals are not a substitute for science," Majoras said. "And that's what Americans need to understand."

The FTC investigated a variety of claims, including rapid weight loss and reduction in the risk of osteoporosis, Alzheimer's and even cancer, Majoras noted. A fine of at least $8 million was levied against the marketer of Xenadrine EFX, made by New Jersey-based Nutraquest, Inc., formerly known as Cytodyne Technologies. The marketer was identified as RTC Research & Development, LLC, based in Manasquan, N.J. Majoras said Xenadrine EFX had a study showing that people who took a placebo lost more weight than those taking the pill.

The FTC's investigation also found that consumer endorsers lost weight by engaging in rigorous diet and exercise programs. A $12 million fine was assessed against Window Rock Health Laboratories, based in Brea, Calif, the marketers of CortiSlim. Majoras said CortiSlim falsely promised that all users would see permanent and fast weight loss and that its TV infomercials were "deceptively formatted" to appear as talk shows rather than ads.

The Bayer Corp., based in Morristown, N.J. will pay a $3.2 million civil penalty to settle the claims. The FTC said Bayer marketed One-A-Day WeighSmart with unsubstantiated claims including that it increases metabolism. Bayer violated an earlier FTC order requiring all health claims for its One-A-Day brand vitamins be supported by competent and reliable scientific evidence.

The marketers of TrimSpa, Goen Technologies Corp., will pay $1.5 million. Both Goen and TrimSpa are based in Whippany, N.J. The FTC said Goen had inadequate scientific evidence to support claims that TrimSpa causes rapid and substantial weight loss.

Company Reponses
Marketers of Xenadrine EFX and CortiSlim did not return telephone calls for comment. Bayer disagreed with the FTC's description of the company as a marketer of a weight-loss pill. "It's a multivitamin," said Tricia McKernan, spokeswoman for Bayer HealthCare's Consumer Care Division. "We don't market ourselves as a weight-loss product." Rather than go through the expense of litigation, Bayer decided the way to "close this issue" was to settle, McKernan said.

Some of the fines could be returned to consumers who purchased Xenadrine EFX and CortiSlim. The marketers of the other two drugs paid civil penalties. Consumers who purchased Xenadrine EFX and CortiSlim from the marketers will be contacted by the FTC about getting their money back. People who bought the pills over the counter will have to wait for the agency to put up a public notice on its website telling them how to recoup money.

I can really tell you do want to lose the weight. While I do not know about those 2 products I will say, pills period are NOT a healthy solution to weight management. There will be a price to pay beyond the cost of the product. Side effects are very real. I am dealing with an issue in my heart valve because I was like you wanting to get the weight off...and was willing to take a pill (everyone else was having such great results and I wanted that for me too)

There are other programs that you could participate in: the best of the best are those that not only tell you what to eat but TEACH you how to make the right choices.

I am participating in one right now where I have taken 11.5 lbs off since 1/1/9 Eating normally just logging my food, getting active and staying accountable. I also take a high potency vitamin mineral supplement. I find that giving my body what it needs allows me to make MUCH better choices.

(sorry if this was not the news you were looking for) ALWAYS CHECK FOR SIDE EFFECTS!
