Hi Ladies. My family is traveling up North in a few weeks. We were going to rent a travel trailor, but we are finding they are very expensive. Where do you all go for the best deals on hotels? I know there are several websites out there, but I was looking for some personal feedback and guidance. We will probably need to book 3 or 4 different hotels through the course of our trip and I just really want to feel like I have researched it well enough before booking anything.

Thanks so much!

We've done a lot of road trips and we've found the best deals on hotels are by stopping at the rest areas for the state - as soon as you cross over the state line - they have hotel books. If you use them and walk into a hotel (doesn't count for pre-booked rooms) and give them a discount coupon you can find great deals!

I have used cheaprooms.com several times. I like it because it rates the rooms and the hotel, so you know what your staying in. I have found many great deals on here. I hope you do too.

Alot depends on where you are going up north. AAA can help if you are a member. We just got back from a trip to Michigan. I found in all of my past travels I get the best motel deals by just walking in. If they are not busy they are more than willing to drop the prices. We paid around $50.00 for a night for 3 adults. It will be less for you because your kids can stay free at most motels. If you want to book in advance then just do research and put in your dates at different sites to find the best deals. If you prefer Holiday Inns they have a memembership deal that's pretty good. The only problem with booking in advance is you want to make sure you are not penalized if you can't make it that date. Things do come up. A lot of the hotels and motels charge cancellation fees that can become very costly so be sure to read all the fine print. We used one of the coupons mentioned and all it saved us was $1.00. The AAA discount is better in most cases.

I am a manager of two hotels in naples and I would recomend that you try the La Quinta Hotels they are nation wide and the price is great. I would recomend to look online at www.lq.com. Sometimes you can find the same hotels cheaper on Expedia.com but I would compare the actual hotel to expedia before you book. If you need any more info on the La Quinta Hotels please let me know and I can find out more info for you.

If you have triple A(AAA)they can show you the best routes to take, how to avoid roads that have heavy construction going on ( they will map out the best and safest route to where you want to go),and also they will find the cheapest hotel rates including coupons for activities when you get to your destination or just traveling thru.If you don't have triple A,find a friend or family member that does and you can use theirs for this service. Also if you have certain towns that you may want to stay at, get ahold of their Chamber of Commerce}. They like to help just to get people to visit their area and attractions.I hope this helps you...Be safe and have a wonderful time.

Hi D.,

I usually check out Expedia and Hotels.com but I usually find they both have the same deals. Strange thought I can often find them cheaper on those websites than booking directly with the hotel. I also like the reviews on both websites and usually sort by Customer Rating. I have booked all my vacations through them and have always been happy, no complaints. Good Luck.
