Best Secrets to Glowing Skin

I have been drinking tons of water, exercising, sleeping well and doing my normal skin routine but I feel like I need to do more because my skin just looks drab. What are your best secrets and routines for glowing, renewed skin? I have been considering getting one of those skin cleansing machines. And if you have one of those machines how do you like it? I don't have much money for regular facials at spas. etc. I eat well (no fried food, lots of leafy greens, nuts, fruit and veggies) and use a sulfa wash with a moisturizer day and night.

What can I do next?

Good tips already.
I would stop the sulfa wash. Yikes.
And eat lots of carrots.
I use Vaseline with Cocoa butter or Vit E at night on my eyes/lips.
I don't drink lots of water. I do drink lots of tea.
And get about 10 minutes of sun per day, which is impossible in Canada.

good sex, a hearty belly laugh, a bit of chocolate, and olive oil and avocado both eaten and applied to the skin.

really, happiness shows, as does contentment.
olive oil and avocado are healthy fats, they go a long way towards improving your skin.

I would be wary of a skin cleansing machine. overuse can cause flaking and dryness, or oiliness as your skin tries to compensate for the trauma.

Best,

I love my skin and it is sensitive to the products used when you get a facial so I avoid facials. I also avoid machines because they can bee too rough on skin and you end up worse vs better.

I do drink a LOT of water. I've been using Clinique products since I was about 11 yrs old. I am using the Repairwear series now and I love it. It appears pricey when you see the sticker but keep in mind that it does last a long time so you do get your money's worth. It is also recommended by dermatologist as a good brand. Clinique also stands by their product and if you are not satisfied, they will refund you your money. My daughter (19) an I both use all Clinique products cleansing, moisturizing and make up.

We also add to our routines Argon Oil by Jose Moran. I get it at Sephora for about $15 a small bottle and again, it lasts a LONG time because you just use 1-2 drops a day.

If dullness/lack of radiance is your concern, you need to step up exfoliation. A facial scrub a couple of times a week, and then a beta hydroxy acid product to speed up that exfoliation. I use Clinique's Even Better serum for dark spots. If not concerned with dark spots, try their Turnaround Concentrate. It also speeds up exfoliation and you will feel a difference in your skin(think softer, smoother feeling) the very next day. Takes about a week to see the radiance begin to return. Of course, moisturize and daily sunscreen. The more you step up exfoliation, the more you need to moisturize. The sun and the free radicals in the air do a number on the skin, making you age faster. Protect it w/ daily sunscreen. I also have their 5 minute Instant Facial, which is like a mini-microdermabrasion treatment at home. I only do this one once every two weeks or so, but man, my skin feels really smooth after I use it.
I am aware of all those cleansing brushes out now, I feel they are just a trend. But people I know that use them, love them. I worry they spread bacteria around, but know they have an answer for that. They are very expensive and I am not convinced they are worth the money.

I have been using a Clairsonic for a few years now, and honestly, that thing has been life-changing. I know that's an odd thing to say about a thing you use to wash your face, but seriously... life changing. I use it twice per day with my usual face wash (I use Murad, but whatever you use would be fine). I no longer need to exfoliate separately, because the Clairsonic takes care of that. My skin doesn't break out anymore. I know it's expensive, but in my opinion, the Clairsonic is worth every penny. Also - if you buy one, make sure you register it online. My first one broke about 11 months into using it, and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked. Their customer service is fantastic.

Don't use machines on your skin. They will make you look old faster. They aren't the kind of machines used in salons - those are professional grade and only people trained on them are supposed to use them.

You need to research what kind of food to eat to promote skin health, and more importantly, what NOT to eat. Perhaps your normal skin routine isn't a good one. Start with your food intake.

I use Castor Oil for my skin care regimen. That's all thats needed, no fancy expensive gadgets or fancy products. It cost abut $10 for about a year supply.

And what you really wanted, you will have beautiful glowing skin.

There are other natural oils you can use too; coconut oil, almond oil etc.

I make homemade soap and have included several natural ingredients that have cleared up my skin and evened out the tone. It does not take much to make the soap and the bars last for a long time.

In fact some of the things I have used naturally are what the chemical companies have created to charge you more money. I did quite a bit of research on what the different fruits and vegetables can do to help your skin all over the body.

Do get exercise on a regular basis, drink lots of water, enjoy a good laugh or two a day and a good night's sleep. You are what you eat.

Why the sulfa wash? Sulfa can be pretty potent and h*** o* skin. Did a dermatologist recommend it for a specific condition? If not -- I'd start trying some new options for a face wash, something very mild. Also: Some of us do not need to wash twice a day (yes, my dermatologist said this); it can depend on your particular skin, what you're exposed to, etc.; it can strip off natural oils especially if you use a harsh wash. Don't use machines--big no-no. My derm. would really prefer that no one ever exfoliate at all except by using a good washcloth-- no exfoliating washes or "dermabrasion" creams or devices.

Do you ever steam your face? I do sometimes and it helps and feels great. Pour just-barely-boiling water into a deep bowl, cover immediately with a towel and give it a second for the steam to build; bend over and put your face over the bowl with the towel over your head to keep the steam in. Works best on a high kitchen counter so you are not bending over too uncomfortably. Do not stay under too long -- go back and forth a bit as it cools. You should not come out "cooked" and red! Also do this with GREAT care so you do not tip water onto yourself (and when the kids are out of the way in bed). Not super-hot water, either. Wipe the dampness off and relax. I do this at night so I am not putting makeup or even lotion directly on the skin -- the pores will be very open so don't put anything on your face after this. Do not do it more than a time or two a week, and stop if you go red. If you prefer, put the water into a sink so there's no bowl that could shift around.

I think besides all you do you need to make sure you cleanse night and morning and take your make up off every night. I have used Sheseido skin care for over 30 years and also use Avon Thermafirm at night and most people can't tell how old I am because I hardly have any wrinkles (next to none) at all and I am almost 60!!

Good skin care is a must. I use a skin care brush I bought at the Sheisido counter and have for many years which helps exfoliate. I buy it at Macy's and it is a bit expensive, but well worth it. The Thermafirm from Avon is a $32 and sometimes you can buy one get one for $5 which is a great deal.

Do you use a daily facial moisturizer? I wash my face every night before bed to get all the oils, dirt and make-up off my face and then in the morning i just use Neutrogena face wash and then before i put my makeup on i put on a facial moisturizer. Good luck!

I have found that my skin is a reflection of my diet. When I eat well, eat clean and of course drink lots of water, my skin reflects that. I use a particular nutritional line and, at 44, people think I am in my early 30's! I PM'd you the name!

Make sure that what you are doing is still good for YOUR skin. Sometimes your needs change. I sometimes switch things up twice a year, even if it's just back and forth.

In addition to those natural oils, maybe add a touch of liquid bronzer to your appearance when you're feeling a little "drab". That'll at least make you smile. I like Royal Oil; it's got a coconut base. I mix my foundation and my bronzer (on the rare occasion that I feel like being bothered with bronzer) with my moisturizer so it blends into my skin well and stays there.

exercise and lots of water. when I do both on a regular basis, my skin looks much healthier and glowing.. I use Dr Hauschka Rose Day Cream and that has been really good for my skin. I recently read that you shouldn't add moisture to your skin at night because it's during that time that your skin is replenishing itself and during which time, your skin will build oil as necessary. Apparently, when you use cream at night, you lessen your body's own natural oil building tendencies. Not sure I go for that.. but it does make sense to some degree.. So far, I have not been using cream at night (only around my eyes) and my skin feels as moist as it when I used night cream.. I am going to keep experimenting to see how it goes..

Also, I have heard of some women taking niacin and that will definitely give you a burst of glow on your face.. they sell it at health food stores... you can read more about it online..

good luck
