Best Way to Shop for Household Products Online

I buy a few things on Amazon, but moslty cuz they are a PITA to get consistently at the store (always out, not the scent or flavor I want, or the local stores quit carrying them so I had to hunt them down for some reason). I live in an area where I can drive 10 miles any direction and hit at least 1 (if not more) Targets, Walmarts and Cub foods, etc..

The price is either the same or less, with free shipping and I do the "subscribe and save" to ge tthe additional 15% off those items (several varities of tea bags, hubbys granola clusters that is his breakfast 5 days a week on the way to work, etc), plus I get my Huggies wipes for my home daycare. Dumb, I know, but I change alot of diapers and am super picky about the scent. Normally scent of any kind , in general, is an issue for me, but some things like this I do want some and local stores moslty carry the unscented. Dumb I know! But I get 30% off with the Mom thing and the subscribe and save all together. Subscribe and save is free shipping for the things that fall under that (set it up for every one, two or 3 mos delivery and you can alter that at any point).

Other wise I buy alot of that stuff locally, in bulk, at Sam's club. I hate running out, or even the idea of running out, so I am stocked up. I get down to a week or 2 supply (some things less like paper products) and I stock up again. I try to be very well stocked over the winter as I dislike lugging all that thru the snow to my little car in the winter. Must be why I am starting to "nest" in that way??? LOL

I personally (others may disagree) think that online shopping for these items once you add in shipping costs more than just going to target or walmart.. Sure every once in a while you can find a great deal online but for the most part not really. Just keep your eyes pealed for coupons and watching the fliers and combining the coupons with a good sale to get some bulk saved up in a closet or pantry. The items you looking at buying dont go bad so when you find a good deal stock up! Also with shipping there is soo much excess packaging that you then have to hopefully breakdown and recycle. Just my thoughts :) I will keep checking other people responces though to learn secrets of the trade if they have one ;)

It is always cheaper to buy stuff like this at the store. You will never find this stuff cheaper than what you can get when this stuff goes on sale or on clearance. And with the dollar stores you can often do even better if you don't have a problem with generic. If you're good with coupons, you can probably even get the stuff for close to nothing. Even diapers.

Do not get household and personal products online. Shipping alone makes this a bad idea financially speaking. If you are looking for ways to shop without having to travel, you'd be better off checking out local grocery stores and local delivery services. We have a couple of grocery stores in the area that deliver. And we have something called Coborn's Delivers...not sure if that is a chain or not, so it may or may not be in your area. The cost of groceries is slightly higher with the services to offset the cost of gas and delivery, and I think even those would be cheaper than shopping online. Just like a bricks and mortar store, you can use coupons and save money. They have clearances and sales too.

Check it out. If it's like Coborn's is here, you'll like it. I see you don't have a car. The last time I was pregnant, I was on bedrest. We used Coborn's and I loved it. In the end, groceries cost about $20 extra than if we went to the store. About the cost of gas and time! It was well worth it! The delivery guy was totally sweet too. I don't know if it was because I was pregnant or what, but he even put the food away for me! We don't use as much now, mostly because we shop bulk now and do most of our grocery shopping at Costco. Shopping bulk we only need to go shopping once every 6-8 weeks, with the exception of picking up dairy and bread or specialty items as needed. The rest goes to the freezer or pantry. But I highly recommend grocery delivery service if transportation is an issue.

There are many great sites. Go to coliryan.com and earn cash back on all these products as well. Go to the partner store tab and they are all listed alphabetically. Meijer is very inexpensive. There is also peapod, drugstore.com, diapers.com. I believe we have a store coming soon that is called Alison (?) Sometimes they are a little tricky to use but they will help you save.

SAMs club, walmart if you use coupons, the dollar store ( I've heard on GMA) try vinegar and water for mulipupose cleaner, i don't use bleach smelling products.
