Big Girl Bed & Room

For Christmas we are getting our daughter a big girl bed (toddler bed) and we are going to do her new room.

The problem I’m having is finding sheets, comforter and all that for her. The mattress is the same size as her crib mattress. But I don’t want to bring over those things into her new room. Plus we have another girl on her way that will be using that room.

When I’ve looked at Target and all those stores, all the themed items are for twin size beds. So it would be too big for this bed.

Where would I go to get the new things for her room?

What can I do next?

Look in the infant/toddler section. I have found a few top sheets there for toddler beds - they are fitted at the bottom to help keep them in place. One came with a toddler bedding set that we bought.

My son moves alot in his sleep, so the sheets always ended up bunched down by his feet anyway. I just used crib sheets and then folded a twin sheet in half so I could really tuck it in to TRY to keep it in place. If you or someone you know sews, just cut a twin sheet and sew it to size. Match it up with a solid color crib sheet for the bottom.

I think that babies r us or toys r us may have them also. We found a Cars toddler bedding set at Walmart, but most places like that should have them.

We're getting ready to do the same thing except my daughters crib (which she never used) changes to a full sized bed. I looked all over the place for something cute. JCPenny's had one set online I liked alright, babysupermall.com had a few I actually liked (but expensive), and I ended up going to the pottery barn outlet in birch run. Everything is an additional 50% off right now. I found an adorable quilt for under $30 normally over $100. Unfortunately its a twin but Im going to try to make it work for that price.

For my daughter, I picked out a twin set that I liked since I knew she would only be in the toddler bed for a year. Then I bought a solid crib sheet in a matching color (purple) and some complimenting fabrics (one green and one tinkerbell purple and green satin) to sew together for a lightweight blanket. Then we used the twin pillowcase. It all ended up going together really well and she had a big girl (toddler bed) set that was the a fitted sheet and lightweight blanket and pillow, and the standard twin set with comforter. It was great for the transition and once she moved to the twin we kept the light blanket as an extra over her comforter and it all goes together! Good luck!
