Bounce House/moonwalk Ownership

A few questions about bounce house ownership.

Do you leave it up for multiple days in a row or always put it away at the end of a day? Any problems with animals chewing on it?

Did you notice your electricity costs go up because of it? If so, was it a lot?

Any brands I should stay away from? Ones you recommend? I'd like a smaller one.

Edit: Definitely for outside; no room in the house at all. Looking for maybe an 8x8 or so; maybe Little Tikes. Don't want to spend more than $300.
The kids are 4 and 6, but they are little for their ages.

What can I do next?

It depends on what you are looking for. If you want one to use for your own child, a small one from Toys R Us is fine. It can be left up if you have it in th ehouse. Those water park type things can easily break and the sun can do a lot of damage. Also, absolutely NO SHOES allowed. My cousin in law bought one a while back and his son decided he wanted to wear his shoes. Lots of little holes. I know a woman that had small regular bounce house type. She left it inflated in her basement. Tip 1, use a vacuum to blow it up. She used a pump and it took forever. Tip 2, make sure you check the inflation every couple of days. Bouncing on it does cause pressure and deflation and Tip 3, buy insurance. Her house got a hole and she got a new one. But the policy only covered 1 replacement.
As for the electric bill , the smaller ones do not need the compressor like the big ones you can rent so no constant electricity use.

We bought a jumping house from Meijer for 179.00 and it is on its second season, over a year old. It came with a motor to blow it up. The kids jump on it while I garden or mow the lawn. We recently had a party and there were 7 or 8 kids jumping around in there. It is still going strong. I always put it away right after use. It is not too bad to fold back up.

How old are the kids that would be using the house? We have a Little Tikes bounce house with a air compressor. It's for kids under 7 or so. The air runs the entire time. I've never noticed a huge increase in our electric costs, but we only brought it out for playdates, parties, etc. The one we have is made very well, kind of a canvas material. Ours is probably 4 years old and it looks like new. If you want it to last, you have to be sure that no one wears shoes and no more than maybe 3-4 kids. I highly recommend the Little Tikes brand. I think ours is 8x8.

We bought one that is commercial grade, it was somewhere around $3000. It's awesome though, because I can have all the parties at my house and it's definitely more than paid for itself with how much money I've saved not always paying party rental places. We definitely put it up/take down after each use or else my lawn would be DEAD. And no animal has ever tried to chew on our bounce house. The biggest thing you need to watch our for is the type of material used (cheap parachute material will not hold up) as well as how it was constructed. Some do a cheap glue others melt seams together and reinforce with stiching (that's what our is). It all depends on how much you are looking to spend too.

Are you talking those things that have the air pump attached to them? Kind of like those water park things? If so I have had the water part things. Don't leave them out! You have to with the water park things because they have to dry but mine only lasted one summer before the sun made the material brittle and it had an unpatchable hole in it.

I left mine up for a couple of days, making sure to move it to a new spot if it was more then 2 days of being up. This means out on the lawn, not inflated that whole time.

I have 2 fans that still work, but both our blow up slide and our bounce house bit the dust a while ago (anyone want a fan?? LOL).

We lost the bounce house for who knows what reason. Just stopped holding air, we couldn't find any hole to plug so eventually just gave up and tossed the thing. The fan still worked cause we tried it on the slide that was fine and it worked on that.

Then the next summer, the water slide one died. It was a tragic death I am sorry to say and we miss it dearly. Apparently a family of mice really needed a warm place to stay.
