Hi I got a flyer from my sons school last week advertising summer day camp a westminister boys and girls club. Has anyone sent their child there? My son is 6 and i am considering it..........Especially since the hours are 7am to 6pm weekdays only and they charge 60.00 a week. I dont think I will find a better price. Any comments will be appreciated.

I don't have any experience with the Boys & Girls Club in Westminster but can tell you that my oldest kids (31 & 32) both went to the Boys & Girls Club in Tustin until they were too old to go. They went on outings and also to camp. The counselors were always very good to the kids and taught them lots about dealing with other kids and especially conflict resolution.

I agree w/what another poster said. They don't have a daycare license (last I heard) and really, they're not intended to be a daycare by any stretch of the imagination. It's designed to be a place where you can drop your child off for a few hours (like 2--not 7) to play and interact with other kids. Take your child and go for a playtime, and stay and watch. If they can leave whenever they want----that's not the program I'd choose for a 6 year old. Many churches offer "Mom's Morning Out" programs---maybe that's more of what you're looking for? You can start calling some churches to see if they offer that. If you're looking for a daycare, I hope you don't choose one based on lowest price. Those are usually the daycares you hear about on the news where a child was hurt, neglected, etc. There's a reason the price is so low....

I looked into the Boys and Girls club in Cypress and we have one at the school where I the administrator. Remember they do not have a daycare license so kids are free to come and go. The one in Cypress used to be really disorganized. Last year a new person was hired as the director and things were better. I did not feel comfortable leaving my son in this facility until he was 10 and responsible. He had a good time hanging out with friends and taking a fishing class. Good luck

You might want to check the B and G Club's hiring policy. They don't do background checks....

Just something to think about.
