BPA Free Sports Jug?

My daughter plays soccer and all the kids have large, one-gallon water jugs with the spouts on the top for easy drinking. Do you know of one that is BPA free? Some of the girls talk about how the water tastes funny and it makes me nervous to purchase the Igloo/Coleman brands...I know you can buy stainless steel, but they have screw off caps and are not so user friendly. Wondering if a chemical free 1 gallon sports bottle with spout on top exists... Thank you!

What can I do next?

I'm pretty sure they're all BPA free anymore. I agree withTF Plano/Allen that the BPA thing is mostly hype, but the manufacturers made sure everything the sell is BPA free ... otherwise too many moms refused to buy them.

There are lots of reasons the water might taste funny. The water in different municipalities can taste different, not washing them out often enough can make a difference, sometimes they are washed well enough after having lemonade or Gatorade in them, etc.

Coleman and Igloo have been around for a long time. I always feel safe buying their products.

Try sports stores, ask others what they do.

In all honesty, the BPA hype is hype and a great way to remarket the same products for higher prices. I know because I'm in the industry.

We are in the plastics industry ( raw materials) and to get a harmful dose of BPA, you would need to inject yourself with the max dosage daily. I deal with it daily through FDA and our manufacturers. We make more money when people want more specific products due to the hype. Can we make those products? Yes we have suppliers with specialties and we can do it at a higher price to the consumer.

In reality, if you had your hands swiped and tested, it is highly likely that you would find arsenic.

Bottom line... Moderation in anything. New BPA free products are good but so are the regular products on the market.

Keep in mind... Many companies are looking for a way to raise prices and profits and this is a fantastic avenue for that option!

Nalgene is a good brand along with Liberty Bottles and Klean Kanteen. I would suggest going online and looking at REI. They have an amazing selection of BPA free and metal water bottles. You don't necessarily have to buy from them but it's a great place to look and "window shop" to find something you like and then look to Amazon or the company's wed sites to find better prices, though the prices at REI aren't actually too bad.
Often times you buy the bottle with a regular screw top and then buy a replacement sports top to use instead. If you find one you like with the wrong kind of top, look into if they sell the tops separately. Liberty Bottles have a great sports top. We have quite a few of those in our house.

Edit: I forgot..REI had their own brand that are very good as well. We have a few of those as well.
