I just broke my "purely yours" pump tonight. My son is 9 1/2 months old and I'd like to continue breast feeding until June and I work full time until then. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to repair a broken pump or what I should do? I hate to have to buy a brand new pump.

My pump broke when I was breastfeeding my first...I called the company and they took the serial number and I got a new one. Mine was less than a year old, so they covered it! Thankfully my friend had one that I could borrow for the few days it took for the new on to ship...I had a hand pump one too, but that one didin't work as well! Good luck!
you can rent them for cheap and most insurance cover them to try your locoal hospital
I'd call Ameda/Hollister right away. In the meantime, you can get an attachment to use your bottles/flanges as a hand pump. It looks like this - http://www.ameda.com/products/manual.aspx. You can order one through their links or get one at a hospital. I know Providence carries Ameda products, you can call them and ask if they have the attachment. Call the customer service of the company to get a replacement part, call Bensons (home health supply) to get replacement part, call the hospital to get parts. Babies r us and those places do not sell the parts as they are not licensed to sell replacement parts to the pumps. Good luck and also - maybe think about renting one till June instead of buying one! Incidentally, if you want one like the Purely Yours Pump, the Lansinoh Pumps they sell at Meijer are the same as the Purely Yours. We had an ANCIENT Purely Yours pump and finally wore it out. At first, my husband was able to open it and fix it, but it's been so long that I can't remember what was wrong or what he did. Within a few days, we'd bought the new Lansinoh pump.
rent a portable pump from your hospital you delivered at. They rent them for like 80.00 a month and there alot stronger and nicer than the store ones anyway. Or go to a mom to mom sale and buy one if you can find one.
I'm not sure you can repair one, or how you'd find someone who is skilled and could do it quickly. It sounds like this is your first child, are you planning to have another one? Even if you would be staying at home with a 2nd one, having a good pump is very helpful to establishing a good milk supply early on next time around. I'd get another one. If you don't have anymore kids, you certainly can resell them, even though no one recommends this, lots of people do. :)
Check with your insurance company. Many companies will cover the cost of a breast pump as part of their medical equipment coverage. Simply get a perscription for a pump from your doctor, buy the one you want and send your receipt to the insurance company. Mine covered up to $300. I would definitely recommend a Medela pump at that point.
