Cabbage Soup Detox Diet-any Advice?

Today is day two of my cabbage soup detox diet. I realize that most of the weight I will lose is water weight, and I am trying to work out and take walks while I do this diet (for 7 days). Have any of you done this diet and not gained the weight back after you were finished? I eat pretty healthy anyway (mostly vegan, although I eat eggs, fish and a little cheese). I am wondering if I eat smaller meals and continue to drink lots of water, if maybe I won't gain all the weight I lose back. I don't drink sodas or care for fast food or junk food really, so I am hoping I will be ok!! Any tips or advice, mommas???

What can I do next?

I have not done this diet, but just make sure you get lots of protein. I know you are vegetarian, so it is a big challenge.

Here is a helpful article:

I did this a long time ago. Lost a lot of weight, then quickly gained it back.

I would advise once you get past the 7 days to then go immediately to calorie counting. I know it is a drag, but you will keep off the weight you've lost plus continue to lose weight. You will be at an advantage going into it this way because you will have already cut back your appetite by doing the cabbage soup thing.

I don't know your weight, height, activity level, etc. You'll need to know all these things in order to calculate how many calories you should be eating daily. For me to lose I need to eat 1500 calories a day. If I exercise, I can eat a little more and still lose. Generally, I've been eating around 1700 calories a day and am losing steadily.

There are a lot of free calorie-counting apps available out there that are very good. I use MyFitnessPal. I'm sure all of them are similar and they really do help.

Best of luck! I'm 3 weeks into my diet so far. 12 more weeks to go!

If you eat smaller meals, loaded with protein to keep you full, you should be able to maintain it fairly well. But that's a disciplne change.

Keep your smaller meals to 200-300 calories, and you should be in good shape. Almonds are your friend for keeping you full, as is avocado. Measure your portion sizes according to the labels and track it. (ex: 1/4 cup of raw almonds = 160 calories. Actually measure it to stay on track.)

Good luck!

Yes I did it, during the height of my eating disorder. Detox diets are not healthy.

You will gain back the water wieght and my understanding of a Detox is not to lose weight but to rid your body of the toxins you are holding in that may be part of your holding weight. I could be wrong, but that was my understanding. I suggest you look at the detox as a tool vs a diet and make smart choices after to remove the undesired weight. I am working on my personal journey and trying to decide if a detox is something I want to incorporate, but I have not found one I think I can stick to (willpower is still a battle).

My advice is to stop the cabbage detox and learn to eat a regular, sustainable, healthy diet. Toxins don't make you gain weight, and water weight is a temporary issue. Keep the healthy diet is sounds like you normally have, count the calories, and make sure you keep exercising. Walking is great, but if possible, try weight-bearing exercise as well.

I will make the caveat that cabbage has lots of good nutrients in it, so if you really like the cabbage soup, I'd encourage you to keep that as part of your healthy diet.
