Hi moms,
I am looking for a couple of recipes. One is for cookies that you make with cake mix. I had these years ago and they were so delicious and I really want the recipe. The other is for recipes that use hot cocoa or hot chocolate mix. We have a ton of boxes of cocoa and chocolate mix but don't really drink it that often. If you have any recipes that use the mix as an ingredient, I would like to have them. Thanks everyone!

I'm not sure if this is the recipe you're looking for but it does use a cake mix:

Cool Whip Cookies

1 chocolate cake mix
1 egg
1 (8 oz.) cool whip
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Blend cake mix, egg & cool whip. Drop by teaspoon into sugar to coat. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet in 350 degree oven for 10-15 minutes.

variation: if using lemon cake mix, use a mixture of white sugar & cinnamon instead of powdered sugar. When substituting white cake mix, use colored sugars.

This is the Pampered Chef recipe for all occasion cookies, and they are SOOOO good. It is a butter cookie type recipe.
1 package white cake mix
4 sticks butter or margarine
2 3/4 C all purpose flour

Preheat oven to 350
soften butter in a small bowl wisk to remove clumps.
add cake mix and flour blend with wisk in a large bowl.
add butter all at once to flour mixture and blend with a wooden spoon. If dough is too stiff, knead with hands.

Shape dough, bake and decorate as desired. I use my cookie press for this recipe. You can also do cut-out cookies, or drop cookies. Bake until they are just starting to turn a light golden brown.

They are absolutely delicious and will melt in your mouth!
Variations:
use devils food cake mix for chocolate cookies.
use yellow cake mix and 1T. cinnamon for spice cookies.
use yellow cake mix and whisk 2/3 C peanut butter into the softened butter until smooth, then add to dry as above, for peanut butter cookies.

Good luck!

My son hates cake, so anytime we would normally have cake we make a BIG cookie.

CHOCOLATE CHIP BIG COOKIE

1 box yellow cake mix
1/2 c. oil
2 tbsp. water
2 eggs, beaten
1/2-1 c. chocolate chips

Mix all ingredients until moist. Put in a lightly greased pizza pan at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until brown. Let cool and cut as desired.

I've made individual cookies with the same recipe (as some have already noted).

My Mom gave me the recipe for vacuum cleaner cookies:

1/2 c margarine melted
1 (18.25 oz.) package yellow cake mix (without pudding)
3 eggs
1 (8.oz) package of cream cheese, softened
1 (1 lb.) box of powdered sugar or 3 3/4 cups
1/2 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans

Combine margarine, cake mix, and 1 egg. Sift together until the dry ingredients are moistened. Pat into the bottom of a well-greased 15/10 in jelly roll pan. Lightly beat the remaining 2 eggs, then beat in the cream cheese and powdered sugar. Stir in the coconut and nuts. Pour over the mixture in the jelly roll pan, spreading evenly. Bake at 325 for 45-50 min. or until golden brown. Cool to room temperature. Makes 4 dozen highly addictive bars.

I know of one recipe from a cake mix...It is Funfetti Cookies. You use the Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix, add 1/3 cup oil and 2 eggs. The recipe is on the box too (usually on the side) You can frost the cookies then with funfetti frosting & sprinkles. These are my kids & husbands favorite cookies. Not sure if that is what you're looking for but they are good & SUPER easy!!! Good Luck!

I make the cookies using the Pillsbury Funfetti cake mix - the cookie recipe is on the side of the box. It also has you put frosting on, but the kids and I like it without!

I don't know any recipes using hot cocoa though - sorry.

Ok, what to do with your hot cocoa. If you like coffee, like I do, it is great to mix a packet of hot cocoa in your cup of coffee to make a nice hot mocha. This is what I do with the coffee at work, that isn't particularly good and it tastes great!

I bet you could also use the cocoa in receipes that call for cocoa, such as fudge.

INGREDIENTS
2 eggs
1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix
1/2 cup vegetable oil

DIRECTIONS
Mix together cake mix, eggs and oil in a large bowl.
Make little balls with the dough and set on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake at 350 degrees for 4 - 10 minutes.

You can add candies or choco chips to this or coat with powdered sugar... how about a dusting with the Hot Cocoa mix?!?!?

My left over cocoa mix gets put into single use baggies and I make body scrubs out of it. The chocolate is an anti-oxidant and the sugars is a great way to remove dry dead skin... plus you smell yummy afterwards :)

I will go through my old cookbooks to see if there are any recipes for you in there for hot cocoa mix though!

Good luck and blessings to you!

My Grandma always made cookies with a cake mix. Like the other responses, with 2 eggs and 1/2 cup of oil, but you can use any boxed cake mix of any flavor. I have found a drawback with these, though, and that is they get very hard after a day or so. Doesn't seem to be a problem at our house to eat them quickly! Have fun baking!
