Can't Agree on Boys Name!

Just curious about what your thoughts were for a name for my son. My hubby wants Jason and the kids and I like Jayce. We're also thinking about Joshua and James. We have a Justin, Jessica, Alyssa and Jayden already. Alyssa wasn't a 'J' name because I wanted Alyssa so badly and my hubby gave into me... he wanted Jennifer... LOL The middle name will be either Edward or David which are both family names. Thanks for your input! we're about a week or two from delivering and we can't decide.... which we'll most likely wait until the day he's born anyway.

What can I do next?

I like Joshua. It is a solid, strong name.

And no disrespect to the previous mom, but 'Storm'? Really?

Whatever you do, please don't spell Jason any other way. This trend with spelling a regular name differently, has gotten out of hand. Only on paper is it 'cute' - saying it out loud - Jayson or Jaycen is still Jason. These kids will continuously have their name spelled wrong - all of their life. It's not same as having a different 'sounding' name. I do agree with other posts - I would go with an 'A' name for Alyssa's sake.

This might sound kind of silly but I think I'd go with an A name so that Alyssa doesn't feel so left out with everyone else having J names.

What about combining James and Jason and going with Jameson?

Here are some other J names to consider:

Jeremy, Joseph, Jackson, Julian, Jesse.

Good luck,
K.

Why not name him Jason and call him Jayce? "Jase" is my cousin Jason's nickname anyway - it's just kind of an easy way to shorten the name, very natural. Then you both win. I also really love Joshua.

How about spelling Jason - Jayson. That way it's a little different. Or even Jaycen would work.

Personally, my all time FAVORITE name for a boy is Jace. I just love it, with or without the Y! My hubby didn't like it at all and for second the child, he relented and let me have it for a MIDDLE name. The sneak. I'm delivering my third little boy next Thursday and since we used Jace for a middle name last time, it was off the table this time. When I pointed that out, he simply smirked. LOL. We have also done the letter theme... our boys are Cade, Carter, and this newest will be Cole. However, if Jace had been available, I would have done it anyway! With all of our kids, we've had to both make lists of acceptable names and only consider the names that appear on both lists. For all three times, we've ended up with a name that we both like, but it's neither of our very favorite. Another fun idea is going to babycenter.com and setting up one of their "baby name polls". It allows friends and family to go there and vote on their favorite and they give you percentages of the vote. Super fun. :) Whatever you decide, congrats on new baby J! Have a safe and healthy delivery!

Hi,

This is baby #5 so I would put the final two names in a hat and draw. That way you and your husband do not go crazy trying to figure it out. This might be a better way to handle this so the name game won't stress you out, being so close to delivery!

Best of Luck! Let us know what happens, please.

I have a Jeremy and another boy with the middle name Jonathan. (-: I agree with the posters about using an A name if Alyssa would like that. (Aaron, Alexander, Aiden, Alan, Alden...........) Good luck!

Of Jason, Jayce, or Joshua, I like Jason the best. It's less common than Joshua, and as others have said, you can always call him Jayce. But I think having a child named Jason is probably going make like difficult for you with a child already named Jayden. I personally like the suggestions of having an A name for Alyssa.

This isn't answering your question (sorry), but I like the idea of an A name, too. My son's name is Adam, which I think sounds good with the rest of your kids' names. Hope your delivery goes very smoothly and congrats!

I'm with the A name crowd and Alan is fitting in pretty well with the siblings and the middle name choices.

Austin would work too: Austin David? Other A ideas: Ascher, you can't do Aidan because you have a Jayden already...

If it must be a J, Jasper picks up some of the sounds in Alyssa....
Jasper David.

Hi there.
I like the letter theme..lol.
Jason is soooo common so I opt for any other alternative names. IMHO.
I always try to think of what other kids (same age in school ect) would come up with to make fun of or and tease about with that name. I rhyme that name for all possibilities and saying the whole name too. I I have even heard of some (I am sure some were unintentional) that they actually drew attention to themselves- hence hating being called out the 1st day of school. lol
Anyhoo- Jayce- the name you/kids like. Is this pronounced like: Jay C? or Jay ssss(rhymes with face.
I saw another way to spell it- Jace. It was Greek & meant "the healer.
I think it is original but I honestly think there would be a confusion that his name was heard as Chase instead.
Also with the 1st name starting with the letter J and if you chose David as the middle name- there is a good chance that he would/could be called JD. =)
Joshua is not bad.
For more options-
I like:
Jackson
Jordan
Julian
Jonah
Good luck to you & yours & your decision.
Please update.=)

none of the above flow with david. jayce edward and james edward sound the best. if me and the dad couldnt agree on a name we would have thrown it out and looked for a new one. with my oldest I gave my husband 10 names I liked he eliminated them the middle name we chose by the flow of the name.

With my second I was absolutely insistant on storm. Or a word related to storm rayne and brandon also come in the picture. We decided to agree by if it was raining at the time he was born it would be storm if not it would be brandon rayne. After he came in like a storm his dad walked up and said it is definately storm any other name would be wrong. When the doc asked us what the name was we both hesitated. He asked "is it top secret" and we explained how we were going to decide by if it was raining or not. and what the 2 names were.

trust me storm fits this child to a tee. he senses weather changes and has a temper like a storm. and destructs my house like a tornado. but he wasn't actually named until he came out. We had a girl babysit him during a funeral and when we picked him up she told us you couldn't have named that child any better:) it fits him to a tee and she was in her 60's Good luck hope this helps

I have to say that I do like Jason Edward, BUT I also like Joshua David. This is a toughy. Put first names in a hat and pick one, then put middle names in a hat and pick one. Don't peak at the names until your son is born. Haha I couldn't wait that long, but pick names out of a hat til you guys find a combination that you like. It'll be fun for the kids too.

I'd go with a A name as well.. just for Alyssa's sake :) (BTW, i love the name Alyssa).. maybe Aiden, Ace, or Alexander. If you went with a J name how about Justice, Jameson, or Jimmie (my husbands name :)

Good luck and Congrats on the baby!

It's hard picking a name that our children will have forever..
We have a Jared James and very happy with that!
Joshua David is a nice name too.
Jayce seems more of a common name for today but not sure I like that it, but you have to go with a name you and your husband like the most.
Good luck and you'll have to let us know what you decide!

Are you pronouncing Jayce like "jace" (rhymes with lace) or like "jay-cee"? If it is the first one, you could always give in and name the baby Jason, but call him Jayce for short. I know a couple Jasons and their names are always shortened by family members to Jay or Jayce.

Well, I'm all about unique names and Jayce is definitely that. Plus, you have to assume that even if you name him Jason, you'll be calling him Jayce most of the time anyway as a nickname. So you might as well just go with that one.

Poor Alyssa, though. Maybe you should consider an "A" name so she won't feel left out? ;-)

I really like Joshua but I think it will get shortened to Josh most of the time. Joshua David has a nice flow to it. Jason Edward is good too. Jayce is nice but I don't think it sounds good with either middle name. An A name for a boy would be great for Alyssa and especially since she's the only child with an A name. I would pull out the name book or go to websites and think of some others. It will come to you. You definitely don't want Dad vs. Mom/kids when naming this baby! Hopefully you will all come to a Concensus.
