Can't Find Bibs with Plastic Lining

I can't find baby bibs with the plastic lining on the back. I always used these for my son because the unlined bibs soaked through and he drooled alot. I read the liner bibs were pulled due to lead. What bibs are you Mom's using that are soft but don't soak through and are durable in the wash?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks to all the Mamas for great advice. My own Mom actually found the lined bibs at Kmart and bought a 7 pack for $7.99. They are safe and PVC free. We will have dry, drool-free baby clothes! Yea.

I bought my daughter's ____@____.com that was over a year ago. Possibly 2 years ago.

Have you tried consignment shops?

Other than that, I am tapped out of ideas.

Target has bibs with plastic un the muddle and cloth inborn sides in their clothes section. Come Ina 3 pack and are more expensive than most but the Velcro on them also doesnot irritate baby's skin. I used these for my heavily drooling daughter

These Dex bibs are THE best - when I discovered them, I never went back to anything else: http://www.amazon.com/Dura-Bib-Big-Mouth-Dog/dp/B0029XV6O...

They are coated so you can just wipe them off or give it a quick rinse under the kitchen faucet. They have snaps so you can create a pocket for food to fall in and it works perfectly. Every once in a while I toss it into the dishwasher - yes, dishwasher! - and it stays in great shape. I have 3 of these and that's all I've had for the past couple of years - I swear by them!

Hope this helps!

I used Carters, they make very thick ones, very absorbant, pocket on the front of some to catch food spills, and the neck opening was roomy enough for any child (some of the off brands choke). I found them at Toys R Us, the baby section of Burlington Coat Factory, and occasionally Big Lots.

Some of the best bibs I ever got were made by a WAHM out of cloth diaper materials- they have a sherpa (cotton, I believe, but they may be bamboo) on the front, PUL on the back, and flannel binding. My son was a super drooler, and they worked wonders! Where he'd been going through five or six bibs by lunch, these brought him down to one or two.

She's no longer making the bibs, but I'm in the middle of cleaning out our closets for a move overseas, and you're welcome to some of our gently/barely used ones if you'd like! They look like they'd be fairly easy to make, too- I can give you links to where to find the materials, and you could probably use one as a pattern. Email me at ____@____.com if you're interested. :)

Target! You can get a pack of ten ( in all colors for boys and girls)for about 8 dollars. My son has been wearing his religously since birth. You can also get them at Wal-Mart, but the neck opening is not as big. But I guess you won't have to worry about that for awhile.

you can find some bibs that are like almost a velour fabric taht are really thick. those don't typically leak thru. i tried looking for the ones w/ a plastic back but couldn't find any either. also you might want to try some goodwills around the area bc i did find some there.

Go to babies r us and buy the Bumpkins brand. These things are EXCELLENT. They come in both in child and toddler sizes. They have some sort of treatment that makes them soft as cloth but waterproof like the plastic lined ones. The best part is that you can throw them in the washer and hand dry them and they the do dry quick. They are so soft that they can even be hand washed. They are little bit on the pricer side but they last and last and last! I used both the child size and toddler sizes for my son and plan on using them for my daughter when she's a little older. Hopes it helps.

I got some with a plastic back and cotton front not too long ago at Target and I'm pretty sure they still have them. They come in packs of 10 or 12 and are various solid colors.

I second the mom who recommended the Carters brand with the liner in between fabric layers. Super soft and able to absorb a lot of drool! My son was a major drool monster who wore bibs all day long for over a year, We washed those bibs over and over and over and they still look great. I got mine from the Carters store at the Ellenton outlet mall.

I always used the Carters ones with the plastic within the center- still soft and fleecy feeling on both the front and back. I think they were called their 'little dribblers' style or something close to that. They have they at Babies R Us usually in 2 packs....

TIP: Just because you don't see it...doesn't mean it's not there!

Most brands of baby bibs are now incorporating the "plastic" inside the bib, between fabric layers. However, you should know that the manufacturers will not disclose (and are not required to by law) what this plastic is made from, meaning it could be leaching harmful toxins into your baby's mouth when they suck on their bib.

Also, these bibs pose a suffocation risk - so be careful - my recommendation is to buy extra thick cotton bibs instead! Organic cotton bibs are not as thin because the fibers have not been chemically treated, meaning they will last longer as well.

Hi S. - When my daughter was only on a bottle i used Carter bibs. I loved them and they was very nice quality. When she started solids I also looked for a plastic lining bib and found some very inexpensive ones at Walmart. They aren't the best quality but did the job for messy solids. Hope that helps!

I found great bibs at Wal-Mart. They come in a pack of ten or so and are great. They are plastic lined and have soft cotton on the front. They have a blue line and a pink line - each have cute sayings on them. Not a huge bib fan myself - but these were great!

This might not work for you with drooling, but I can tell you what we did about bibs. My daughter was not a drooler, so we only needed bibs for eating. For some reason I just never liked bibs. It seemed to be a hassle to get around her neck & she would invariably put her arm in the way somewhere and get the food on her sleeves or other areas the bib didn't cover.... so when she was very young I started using what we call "eating shirts" These are very cheap or already stained shirts that we change her into at eating time. It takes no more time/effort than putting on a bib and I don't have to worry at all about messy clothes. We keep a drawer full of them where we would have kept the bibs and one or two in her diaper bag for eating out. It works really well for us ... especially during the self-feeding toddler years.

About a year ago I bought a 10 or 12 pack at Babies r us (generic, inexpensive ones) that had the plastic backing. They were seriously the cheapest bibs the store had but they were the only ones with the plastic backing and I too love that feature (just don't put them in your dryer! LOL)
