Hey again moms, I asked a couple weeks ago about if I needed a new car seat. The concensous was yes. But I have another question about the seat. Is it safe to use in the stroller? I don't have to worry about accidents or safety when I am just pushing her in the stroller, just going on a leisurley walk around my neighborhood.
I am looking into a good conditioned used one that is not expired, only used with 2 kids and has NOT been in an accident. It does not come with a stroller though, so just wondered if my old expired one was safe for stroller use or if I need to get a stroller/seat combo. Thanks again moms!

I would think it would be fine for stroller use. I think the expiration dates are to make sure they have the latest safety features to be safe in cars.

I had a car seat. Stroller was a separate thing.
Wouldnt want to keep moving the car seat to the stroller, what a pain.
I'm assuming this is a bucket/infant seat. I would use it on the stroller but I wouldn't use it on a shopping cart or anything like that (none of them are meant for shopping carts). Your baby will likely be old enough to sit in the stroller itself soon. You can also skip the stroller for a carrier.
A car seat needs to meet stricter standards because auto accidents involve high impact. So, I"d say, the old seat would be fine in a stroller. There is no chance of being in a high impact accident with a stroller.
I remember your last question. :) Did the ins. company replace it? If so, I'm surprised they let you keep it. Did you have to?? Just curious.
The carseat to be used in the stroller is fine! However, I would take a marker and write on the back of it that it was in an auto accident and the date of the accident. (I just re-read --- not the same one in the accident? Just expired? I would use it in the stroller and write that it is expired on the back). And, that it should NOT be used in a car.
You never know if someone might think it's ok (grandparent, hubs, etc.) down the road. It will also be fun to let your little one play with it later. They LOVE to put their babies in them. Buckle. Unbuckle. Buckle. You don't want to forget about the accident down the road or forget that it is expired (not that YOU would....but others might).
Are you talking about a car seat that actually clicks/fits into a stroller base?
Otherwise, it sounds a little strange, and dangerous. I think you're better off using a traditional buggy or stroller. Or just using a snugli or sling or something.
I mean, you're not in a car, you're not in traffic, you're on a sidewalk walking like, what, 3 mph at most?
I guess I'm confused about the "safety" issue?
