Looking for a new carseat for infant to have as she gets bigger. What I need is suggestions on the reclining carseats or if you dont have a reclining seat how do you keep your babys head from falling forward when they sleep in the car? We do a lot of traveling so this is a must have in a carseat (to be able to sleep comfortably)

What can I do next?

We have a britax and we love it! We have the roundabout it fits nice while they are still a little smaller and they recline. He loves it and seems very comfortable in it and we think that it is great fabric to install and very safe! Worth the money!

I always suggest to parents about to purchase a new seat to consider one that has a heigher weight limit on it, and the Britax Marathon is a great seat. Its rear facing to 33lbs, and reclines PERFECTLY! It forward faces 22-65lbs! Most convertible seats have a weight limit of only 40lbs, and many have extremely low top harness slots (14 inches) so its outgrown by height long before weight ,and long before a child should be in a belted booster seat.

So my vote goes to the Britax Marathon. Rear facing to 33lbs, and forward facing to 65lbs!

Check out the Graco Safeseat (step two) - we take lots of road trips, so a comfortable recling seat was a must for us too! This one is forward facing only, so it would only be suitable for a baby over 20 lbs and 12 months. It reclines quite a bit, my 22 months old is never in that akward head hanging down position when he's sleeping. It's really easy to recline back and forth as well, you can do it with one hand while they're in the seat. Here's a link:

Good luck on finding something that works for you! My only complaint with the seat is that the cover is almost too small for it and I'm constantly pulling back over the edge of the seat. Still love the seat though.

Check out consumer reports, you can research carseats there. I did a lot of research to find a great carseat when we moved up from an infant carrier to the convertable carseat...and I'm about to start searching again for a booster! Some things you ahve to be registered with consumer reports, but for car seats I didn't have to!?!?

After a lot of research, including Consumer Reports and the National Highway and Transportation Safety Association, we bought the Cosco Alpha Omega Elite. It has top safety ratings, reclines even further than our infant seat, and is rated to 100 pounds. My son seems very comfortable in it, and it was half the price of a Britax.

I love our Britax carseat. It is so easy to take in and out with the latch system that it has. It just seat belts right in!
Also, when our guy was just tiny, we found the Kiddopotamus Snuzzler to be super helpful for head support. It is more supportive of head and body than any other carseat insert I've seen. Plus it's velvety soft, totally washable, and only about $15 at Babies R Us.
Hope this helps!

We started out with a Graco Safeseat (step 1 - the bucket) and that lasted us until DS was about 10 months old. It's supposed to go to 30 lbs and 32" in height. DS was close - 27 lbs and 31.5" in height. We now have a Britax Marathon, and I'd highly recommend it. We went with it because of the great reputation and safety evaluations that Britax seats have, and we needed a seat with higher weight and height limits as our son is big for his age. When rear-facing, the seat is quite reclined - almost as much as the bucket was. When forward facing, it's still reclined enough that his head doesn't flop forward when he falls asleep. It also has "hugs" for the straps (that must be used when forward facing) that help keep his head in the proper position and keep the straps from cutting into his skin like the straps on the bucket used to do.

Anyway - that's my .02.

Britax

I am going that route with our next one. Those seats are made so well and are the safest you'll find on the market, bottomline!
