Charting BBT After 20 Week Loss

About 3 weeks after losing a baby at 20 weeks, I decided to start taking my BBT just to see if I could start tracking ovulation. My temperature was consistent at 97.7 for awhile and then jumped to 98.3 and has been 98.0 for about a week. Would that mean I ovulated? This is the first time I've ever done the BBT tracking. My husband and I weren't trying to get pregnant since my cycle hasn't resumed yet, but we had intercourse last Sunday night before my temperature shift Wednesday morning. Could there be a possibility of being pregnant?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Well, my cycle seems to be starting today, so if I did ovulate then I would have only had a luteal phase of 9 days, which is not conisdered normal. I am charting on fertilityfriend.com, so we'll see what happens this month. Thank you for your replies.

So sorry for your loss. I am not sure of the possibility of you being pregnant right now but I just want to say that charting your BBT is an excellent thing to do when trying to get pregnant. My husband and I tried for about 8 months and nothing happened so we decided to start tracking my BBT and after 4 months of doing so I was pregnant. It took about 2 months to figure out my "pattern." One morning when I woke and took my temperature we knew I had to be pregnant b/c my temperature was supposed to be down but instead it was up and after taking a pregnancy test, it was confirmed I was pregnant! So if you truly want to know how your body works then this method is an excellent! Best wishes to you and your husband!

I am sorry to hear about your loss. I highly recommend you check out: www.fertilityfriend.com. You can chart your BBT and it has tutorials on how to understand your cycle, signs of fertility, etc that make it all seem more manageable. From what you describe, I believe you did ovulate. I suggest you take a pregnancy test. BEst wishes.

If you know your menstral cycle and it is regular then you can also track when you should have ovulated. You will also know if you ovulate or not by the amount of discharge from your body. It gets thicker and increases. It may take awhile for your body and cycle to return to normal. I would buy a book or go to the library and get a book on the subject. Another thing that is foolproof is an ovulation predictor kit. Wait three months before getting pregnant again or you could have a miscarriage. I am sorry about what happened I had a miscarriage myself. Take care of yourself.

It sounds like you could have ovulated! If your temperature remains elevated beyond the time that you would expect the return of your period, take a pregnancy test. If you do get your period, chart again and try again!

I want to express my sympathy on your loss. I lost a little girl at 24 weeks in 2007 so I understand where you are. Fortunately, I went on to have a healthy little boy in 2008. As tempting as it can be to get pregnant immediately, I would suggest waiting at least a few months. It took about 2 1/2 months for my cycle to fully return to normal. Take care.
