Chiropractor - Yes or No ?

I recently went to see a chiropractor (1st time ever) after a health fair at work. I really like him and he did find some stuff with my back that would explain the headaches I've been having. He also does nutrition counseling (he's a registered nutrionist). Anyway - he says he can have me off my blood pressure and thyroid meds within a couple of months along with getting my allergies under control. (this is in addition to working on my back.) Has anyone heard of a chiropractor being able to do this ? I just have no experience with them. He seems like he knows what he is doing and has been doing this for quite a while. Thanks for any information you might have !

So What Happened?

I think most of what he is talking about on the medication will come from the nutrition counseling side of things. He does do an extensive blood work up before starting the counseling.

I will keep it short- We are firm believers in chiropractors. My husband and I both like to go- the adkjustments really make your body feel good. My daughter has been going since she was 6 for migraines- when nothing else helped. She gets the headaches if she does not go for a while. They even adjusted her ears when she had a cold one time and it helped!! Once you go for a few times you will see the changes and be hooked! Good luck!

I just noticed you were in Mansfield- that is where we started with Chiro's. Any chance you are seeing Dr Silva?

Yes - I love my chiropractor. I have been going to him for 30 years, since I was a kid. He helped my mother with her hiatal hernea and with our headaches and neck/back pains. I think you ought to give it a try. If you think about it, the science of chiropractic makes sense. It really cannot hurt to try it.

I'm also a huge chiropractor supporter/user. The theory behind chiropractic is that if the spine is aligned, the rest of the organs can more adequately and properly function. It makes total sense. And I've definitely noticed improvements in the various things I've had issues with over the 15 years I've been using a chiro. Don't be scared of the practice, for sure. But keep your skepticism and see if things change. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised :)

Chiropractors, in my opinion, tend to know more about healing and helping the body vs. medicating the body. We love our Chiropractors (we have several that are friends, as well) and they are all so healthy and really do care about helping their patients HEAL their bodies.

I have heard of that and he very well may be able to help you......I would look for personal testimonies from that specific chiropractor.....maybe see if anyone on here has used him and what their experience has been. My chiropractor has helped me with many things my doctor has not been successful at helping with.

I love my chiropractor. He has done miracles for me and my migraines. My 3.5 year old son has also been seeing him since he was a just a few months old. He LOVES going and even gets on the table himself now.

Be careful if the doctor starts promising all types of results. Go slow and I hope you the best!

I had a bad experience with Chiropractors. Be Carefull! They are not miracle makers and those that make promises that they are can be very dangerous! (Research before stopping your thyroid medication, know exactly what is deficient with your thyroid and what is needed for it to function properly before you let him stop your meds that way when he tells you what his plan is you will beable to decide if he is full of it or not!

My Chiropractor thought he could cure everything and ended up injuring me and now I am suffering a whole new set of problems!

Yep, I had a great chiropractor in the town I used to live in. Unfortunately its 4 hours away. If you have one that really knows his stuff they can fix a lot of ailments by making the adjustments. Your spine controls every nerve in your body and its amazing what being in line will do for ya.

Ok, a chiro is good for maintance (sp) but not much more. I have heard of the "wonders of a chiro" but mine sent me to the operating table because they did not do there job right and at 23 was using a walker and had major back surgery. I would investigate this person before trusting and handing over the cash, often they want half of your 6-10 wk plan up front and then you can pay monthly the second half typically a couple thousand when it is all said and done. Just my experience, oh and accupuncture was just as bad.

I'm sure he can help with the allergies, my chiropractor can work on my sinuses and relieve pressure & pain, but I still have to take allergy meds. As for the thyroid problems, I'm a little skeptical. I'm a big believer in natural medicine, but I know too many chiropractors who think they can cure anything with the right adjustment, and that's not always the case.
