Cleaning Service - Costs and Recommendations in San Ramon

I've never had a housekeeper clean my house before but I work full time and have infant twins so it's time. I found a great cleaner but this morning I choked on my Wheaties when she quoted me $250.00 per service for every other week on a 2200 square foot house with 2.5 bathrooms. That seems like too much to pay for house cleaning. I am crazy? Is this the average rate? She came by herself this morning.

Questions: What are you paying for service and would you recommend your cleaner to me?

What can I do next?

Wow, that quote seems to scream 'don't hire me'. I live in Danville in a 2400 sq ft house and have two sisters come everyother week for $90 a week. If you would like their info feel free to email me back at ____@____.com They are the cheapest I have found with everyone else at $125. For $35 less I get two very reliable, nice and hard working women.

Hi,

Try contacting Idalia with Idana Housecleaning at ###-###-####. She cleans our house and another in the Windemere area. She's trustworthy and does a pretty good job.

Hi,
My sister and I use the same young lady, Araceli. Her business is called Belen's House Cleaning. It is named after her 3 year old daughter. There is an initial deep cleaning charge but then a lesser maintenance amount each time after. She comes with 2 other ladies and do my house, 1600 sq. ft., in about 2 hours. We only have her come once a month for $100 each time. My sister has her come every other week and she has a 3000 sq. ft. house and she charges $100 each time. She speaks English and her assistants have limited English. I personally like to have her come with her crew as she always double checks to make sure everything is cleaned appropriately. She has another crew that goes to houses w/o her. Her # is ###-###-####

Hi S.-we are also in San Ramon. Our house is 3200 square feet, 3 bathrooms and we paid $125 every other week. I would recommend her, but I'm not sure if she is taking new clients. Let me know if you'd like me to try and contact her. We have twins too, the are 5 1/2. The first couple of years were really tough, but it gets so much easier after that.

Hi S.,

That does seem expensive....We live in San Ramon as well and use a service called Five Star Home Cleaning Service. We have used them for appx. 3 years and are mostly happy with the services they provide. They have on occasion broken an item or two, but never anything big and they always tell me or my husband what was broken (I have had other services in the past that would try to hide things). They also do occasionally miss some spots, but once I point out that I like a specific spot cleaned a specific way it usually gets done the right way after that.
They charge us $100.00 evry two weeks for a 2700 sf house. As I said we have been a customer for over 3 years so you might pay more as a new customer, but it shouldn't be $250.00.
Five Star ###-###-####....If you decide to call them feel free to let them know that N. from San Ramon suggested you call...maybe they will give you the "friendship" rate... :)

I LOVE my house cleaner, she's the most wonderful person. She comes to my house every other week as well. The only (small) issue is that she speaks limited English, but her daughter always contacts me if we need to discuss things further than her limited English and my limited Spanish can handle. The other WONDERFUL thing for you, if and when you get to know her, is that she is amazing with kids and loves them. She was my sister's nanny for the first years of her (3) kids' lives and they just adore her to this day. Her daughter's email is ____@____.com. : ) Her daughter is also wonderful with kids. I have had her come watch my daughter while I work, and also my nephew. Best of luck! C.

There are 2 types of services - a place such as Merry Maids or an individual. An individual will charge a lot less than the company. I had Merry Maids come to our house for a while because I wanted people cleaning my house who are in the USA legally. However, even then I doubt any of them were legal. One person usually spoke English pretty well, but not always. They do an initial clean that runs $250. Thereafter it was $120 to have the house cleaned ever other week. They usually cleaned the house in about an hour - 4 people come in to clean. Our house is 1300 sq feet. When we had an individual worker she charged $60 (5 years ago) and always brought a helper. She did a great job but I doubted that she was legal and that was important to me at the time. Good-luck!

Hi-

That sounds way too high to me. I pay $100 for a once a month cleaning. My house is 1700 sq ft with 2 bathrooms. It would be $75 for every other week. That's with Maid to Order.

I also used someone else that was 80 a visit. She wasn't quite as good and often brought her kids with her. if that's not an issue, I can find her number for you.

Check out an agency called the Clean Sweep Housekeeping Agency in Lafayette. I don't have their number handy but they are in the phone book. They are more like a referral agency for housekeepers and they are probably more reasonable.
