Cleaning Tile in the bathroom...how Do You Get All the Hair Up?

I have white tile in my bathroom too. I use a mop with a washable microfiber head to sweep before I use a new clean head to mop. It works really well. It is kind of like a swiffer but I don't have to buy refills. I bought it at Don Aslett's. They have a website called www.cleanreport.com and a phone for ordering 1-800-451-2402. The one I bought is called the Scrubbee Doo 2 and costs 19.95 item # 30-002 and the pads are 7.95 each (I bought three). You can buy the mop and one microfiber pad for 24.95 it is item #30-123

If its too much to invest just get a swiffer.

If you have ahand held vacuum, just vacuum first and then mop. It's handy to keep in the closet to have it close,it's worth it to buy a cheap one if you don't have one.

I use a vacuum on all my floors. I have a black cocker spaniel and that is only way I have ever found to get all those soft hairs up!

Use a microfiber duster broom, I just bought one at Home Depot for our hard wood floors. We have short haired dogs and their hair is hard to pick up with a broom. The one I bought has a washable pad.

I use the vacume before I sweep or mop the tile. It keeps things from getting stuck on the floor from the mop and makes less for me to sweep up.

Hoover makes this awesome Hard surface cleaner, the Hoover Floormate 300 PowerBrush. It is a vaccuum and a mop in one. You can use just the vaccuum to get up all the ick or push the button and it works like a steam cleaner on your hard floor surface. Unlike a regular vaccuum, it is designed to create a suction to the floor to prevent all the dirt and hair and such from being blown around. We have hard wood floors and tile. Between the dog (and all of it;s hair) and the 4yr old the floors used to be hard to clean.

My home has tile through out the house except for the bedrooms. The easiest way I found to get up every little bit of hair or dirt off the tile floor is to use the vacuum with the hose. It picks up every little bit of it. Then mop away!

Swiffer pads are great for getting stuff up.

You could try vacuuming up the hair. I use my vacuum for everything! It is a fabulous tool. I think dirt devil has a broom with a vacuum biult in it and you don't need a dust pan.

I vaccum it! If you have white grout you can just Clorox Cleanup the entire place, rinse and mop everything else away.

I use a Swiffer Vacuum. Whatever doesn't stick to the Swiffer pad gets vacuumed up. It works wonderfully and I have a long hair dog.

The best thing in the world is the dry Swiffer--my husband is a pretty hairy guy and I suffered from a thyroid problem from which I lost a lot of hair from. I found that it picks a lot of it up before mopping. There's nothing worse than having to pull it out of a wet mop! Hope it helps.

I've been married for a little over eight years and have a baby girl whose about to be two on Sunday!

I have a roomba that I use to vacuum up all the crumbs, pet hair, human hair, etc that hits our tile floor. It will go from carpet to tile and it keeps the floors looking better between cleanings.

Unfortunatly, you are not alone. A lot of people have this same problem. Try vacuuming the bathroom before sweeping. The sweeping is just cause the vac may have missed some. Then mop using a rag mop not sponge. Also, with tile I think Murphy's oil soap is the best cleanser. It smells good, cleans and leaves an incredible shine. But, try the vacuum. I realize it takes more time. But it does work.

If it's just a small area or the edges, rubber gloves or a lint roller would both work. For larger areas, you could spritz lightly with water then use a paper towel (or put it on your Swiffer) to pick it up.

I know what you mean. I try to never mop unless I vacuum first. It just isn't worth the effort otherwise.

just a thought, never tried this, but when I paint molding I notice the tape gets all the dirt up.. .so maybe some TAPE?

I know this will sound crazy and like alot of work, but, it really is not! I keep a bottle of fantastic in the bathroom, windex works well too - I take a dry paper towel and spray the floor once (not alot of liquid) and I wipe up the hair. The paper towel will be damp and sometimes I need to spray more or less. I try to stay on that daily due to the amount of hair that I loose when I blow dry! It is awful! I have really dark hair and it REALLY shows up! I hope this helps! I know it is a pain, but, my floor is REALLY clean! Good luck!

We have a cleaning business so when we clean tile in baths we use a floor vacuum first(never sweep) to get all hair and trash. Then when we mop the hair does not get in the mop. Try any canister vac. This should solve your problem

I know everyone has said swiffer dry but I also LOVE my swiffer vac.

I have the same problem. I use a micro fiber mop, you can get them online or order thru a janitorial company. It still pushes the dirt around, and hair, but I then have it all pushed up into 1 little area and i take a kleenex and just wipe it up and throw it away.

We had the same problem but over time I have tried several cleaning methods that don't seem to help at all. The best thing I have found is to use my vaccumn attatchment and vaccumn instead of sweeping this way the hair gets trapped in the vaccumn bag instead of the broom. Hope this helps!

I've found that the Swiffer dusters work wonders on hair, both human and pet.

Seriously, I have all white tile as well in my bathroom and we have a high grade, (nothing professional style or anything, so don't get the wrong idea) dust buster...my daughter and I have white blonde hair (real) and it's really fine, but my husband is the hairy one with dark brown hair, drives me nuts!! Dust busters are really made to pick up those small particle type things (so hair fits perfectly into that category), they are genreally used for construction and pickiing up sawdust, etc. So I do a quick dust bust, and then mop with a microfiber wet mop. I have to admit (sorry if anyone thinks I am totally wrong) but I have all wood floors as well, and I usually sweep, then swifer, then mop the wood floors and I have to admit that swiffering doesn't do at all what I need it to. It picks up superficially but leaves you with an incmomplete job that you have to then use some other method afterwards. And I am talking about the DRY swiffer. You can also (this is how i cheat for a quick clean sometimes) sweep everything you can get into a little pile in the corner and then grab that dust buster and suck it up. It's really a godsent as it's light weight and I am not pulling out the whole vacumm cleaner. Also, have you ever tried those cloths called "shammy's" that are actually used usually for washing cars and drying them off to leave no streaks? These work great on tile as well as faucets and such. It will pick up anything while it's wet, and then make it shine without streaks while it's dry.

I blow it to one corner with the blow dryer and pick it up with a wet paper towel. I shed a bunch after having my son. SWIFFER!!!!!!!!!!! is a great product too!!!!!

I got a Roomba last year and vacuums my travertine once a week. It is the best thing since sliced bread. No more sweeping for me. T

Have you tried a swiffer? I am addicted and have everything they make... The duster, the clean and mop, the regular swiffer... You could also try a product called the sticky critter, they sell them at WalMart and are like a lint roller for the floor.

vacuum! If you have a good one with a smaller head to attach and get into the corners and nooks(we have a dyson). Also swiffers are pretty good. (I use the dry cloth one).

Use a dust mop and then shake it outside. Don't use hair spray in the area as it will help the hair stick to the floor - and dust too.

Get a swiffer mop for lint. Swiff it before you seep or mop it's magic.

I use my regular broom, but I don't actually pick it up off the floor once I've started - kind of like a regular Swiffer, I guess. The broom bristles catch all the hair then I just use my hand to take it off and throw it away

We have a Dyson Vaccuum that has the extension rod that I use to vaccuum up all the hair in the bathroom with. I can't actually vaccuum it normal cause then it gets all tangled up in the vaccuum, but the extension rod sucks it all up.
Does your vaccuum have something like that? If so, give that a try!

I find it easier to get on my knees and use a wash rag instead of a mop. The hair doesn't seem to get trapped in the rag like it does the mop when you rinse it out.

I'm sure eight million people have now told you to get the Swiffer dry mop. It's great. They also have the wet jet so you can get it all done!! They are really great for tile floors, much better than a broom. Take care!

Vacuum the floor first then use a little fabric softener in the water. It sounds like you have some static that has built up and that may be what is causing the hair to stick. Moisture combine with the temp changes in a home cause the static charge to build and just like a balloon whala it is stuck. If no liquid softener try dryer sheet.

Try wrapping some packing tape (with the sticky side on the outside) around your sponge mop. It will pick up anything...even lint! This should prepare the floor better for a good mopping.

I swear by Swiffer. Before or I mop I use the DRY swiffer. You just swipe the floors with it. The hair and other stuff stick to the "pad" and then you just throw it all away. No more trying to pull all the strands from between the brooms bristles - yuck!

I also like to use the wet swiffer to mop, or between cleanings. It's especially good at picking up the stuff along the edges and corners.

i own a tile cleaning business, vacuum and then mop with a flat head mop . these mops can be purchased at most home improvement centers or bed bath beyond and come with a terry cloth elastic head, get several. spray a ph balanced tile cleaner onto the floor and damp mop. white is hard, i have white tile in my kitchen

I feel your pain!!! I shed like crazy!!! My husband is bald, so, I cant even blame him!!! hahaha
I use the Swiffer vac. You can get it a Walmart, etc. In my opinion, this works the best for hairs. It has a pad on it, so, even if the vac doesnt suck it up, the hairs will stick to the pad. I've had mine for a couple of years and love it. The reason why I prefer this to a regular vac is because it is small and I can get around the toilet, etc.

Try wetting the bottom of the broom before sweeping. Happy cleaning ;)

I always use the hose on the vaccum to suck up all the hair and dust that gathers on the tile floor before mopping. Using a broom just leave a film of dust and the hair used to fly around instead of going in the dust pan. Good Luck.

Use the vacuum hose to get all the hair up instead of the broom. It gets the hair up 100 times better than the broom does. Then you can mop and your floor will look great!

Get a Swiffer wet jet

This may sound silly, but I vacuum the tile and wood floors before I mop. This way all the dust, hair and paper is up off of the floor before I mop. It won't hurt the floor, and it takes less time for me to do. Hope that helps.

I keep a small hand vacuum cleaner in my bathroom to pick up hair from the counter top and floor.

The only true method...hands and knees and a baby wipe.
We have had tile all over for the last 7 years. It always does the trick. Get the kids to help. They love adventure.

Take a moist papertowel to the floor perimeter and anywhere you see hair then mop. Other option, vaccuum first.

I have the same problem and a dog with black hair. I have to sweep first, to get all the big stuff up, then use a dry swiffer to get up the hair. It has really helped to do both, I know it's an extra step, but it relieves a little frustration when mopping. Hope it helps. H.

Dirt Devil high-powered electric broom or other vacuum cleaner.

Just vacuum before you mop. If you don't have one, you can get them for fairly cheap at Walmart or Target...doesn't have to be fancy.
