Cloth Diapers Question

I have cloth diapers of all styles. I love prefolds and covers best for little babies (under 1 year). I have really started investing in wool longies for my baby due this winter. My older child was a summer baby so we used lots of Bummies covers. I have lots of pockets. Daycare liked BumGenius pockets (one size) best, so I used those when my child was at daycare, but we never really felt the love for them at home. I have a few WAHM fitteds and AIO diapers that are nice, but I really didn't use them much until my child was at the toddler stage and we had instances where time was very limited for some diaper changes.

I found that the best prices for used diapers are either on the LiveJournal cloth diapering community or from www.diaperswappers.com I used to get good deals on ebay before they banned used cloth diapers. Try one of each style and try one of anything that gets your attention until you know you want to make an investment.

I know that I love Sumbuns (too bad she is no longer doing new diapers) for AIO diapers when I use them. I found that BumGenius was the best daycare diaper for me. The new "big deal" for fitteds is Goodmama one size fitteds, but I can't wrap my head around paying that much for a diaper. FuzziBunz are ok if you can get a good deal for used ones (pockets).

I use a variety of diapers. I have prefolds. I have some fitteds that I made. Bummi covers. Dappi covers. Covers I made. I have Fuzzi Bunz and some other WAHM-made pockets. My favorites are the Fuzzi Bunz and the fitteds.
I started making my own because I wanted to try something new and there was no money. But I did have a lot of old flannel shirt and jeans that could not be worn. Sewing your own can become a little addictive.
Another good site for used is diaperswappers.com. The very nice thing is if you decide to buy something different and it doesn't work, sell them.

My aunt makes cloth diapers of all kinds. I've been her guinea pig for most of them. I've gone back to my prefolds every time. Here's why:

all in ones - take so long to dry as they can't come apart into layers. Also, many of these are sized and you have to spend all the more to get more sizes.

Pocket style (KCK, Bum Genius, the one pin style, others that you stuff with prefolds)- The extra laundry that comes from these just isn't worth it for me. It's also extra work take them apart and put them back together. It may be "easier" to use these more fitted styles that are shaped more like disposables, but I find it just as fast to change a prefold with a snappi now that I've got the hang of it. It is just so much more work in my opinion. Besides the kinds with Velcro never seem to last long enough for the cost and the kind with snaps is just too much for my brain to handle. Who wants nighttime changings where you need extra light just to get the snaps right?

To top it off, my daughter leaks the least with prefolds.

I've even tried wool covers, etc. Wool can't be put in the wash the same way as cotton. Often it needs to be treated with lanolin, etc. I just never got sold on these.

If you still want to try others, go for it, but why fix what's not broken?

We use Fuzzi Bunz and really like the way they pull moisture away from the bottom. I've used prefolds also and can launder them with the Fuzzi Bunz - no problem at all. Because pocket diapers are so easy - especially for babysitters and dads - I think you might want to try them. I can't imagine liking pocket diapers less than prefolds and covers. My guess is that they'll soon become your favorites and the first for you to use in every rotation.

I use mostly prefolds with bummis covers, which are fine 90% of the time, but a couple months ago I splurged and got some fuzzi bunz. They are wonderful!! I put both my girls in them overnight now. They have very little leaking and they wick away the moisture better than any other diapers. I purchased the fuzzi bunz without the inserts and use a prefold instead, which helps with washing and drying quickly. They are also great for road trips, camping, or days spent outside. If I could afford it, I would probably use them all the time.

If what you are doing now is working for ya, i wouldn't switch. I have spent sooooo much $$$$$ trying new diapers, and i am now going back to just prefolds and Kushies AIOs which is what i started with....so i just wasted a bunch of time and a TON of $$$ tyring new things!

WHat is the reason for wanting to try something new?
