I rely on Johnson's Vapor Bath. It makes my son's nose run and sometimes even he starts sneezing which helps clear things out a little bit.

I am so sorry - I know how hard it is to see your little one so uncomfortable. I had good luck with "steaming my daughter" - take a long shower or run one and put her in the bathroom. Used to sit mine up in her bouncy chair and block the bottom of the door with a towel... and just let her sit in the steam 1-2 times per day. Also watch for ear infections... if she runs a fever or cries more when you lie her down, it could be settling in her ears and that hurts. My daughter got her first at 8 weeks... Hang in there and best of luck to you both!

I am so sorry to hear that your baby is having such a hard time. There is a product that worked very well for my kids, even that young. It is called Sudacare or Sudacare Advanced. You plug it into the wall and it will fill the room with vapors that will help to clear up your daughter's congestion. You can get this product at a drug store.

I hope she feels better soon!

If she has had this for more than a week take her to the doctor as it could lead to secondary infections. It sounds like you are doing everything you can otherwise. Poor thing.

My 4 1/2 month old has had a cough for a couple of weeks and it turns out she has the Croup (baby version of a cold). She was given steriods and antibiotics for secondary infections. She never had a fever or any other symptoms but her cough and nasal drainage just kept getting worse. She's feeling much better now.

Lots of love to your LO!

Oh hon, I am so sorry. It's so hard on such a little baby when they have such a bad cold.

Are you still nursing? That would be perfect if you still are as the hind milk is thin.

If you are not nursing, make sure the formula is nice and warm, not too luke warm, so that the warm fluid will help soothe as well.

Ditto the other advice with the warm steamy shower and using the Vick's Menthol with the humidifier. She's too young to rub the salve right on her.

This will pass, but it's the pits for a few days.

Good luck.

I second those plug ins...they seemed to work for us. Also try to give her extended warm baths to help her drain and also try some baby vicks on her chest and also put some on her feet and put socks on. i swear that works too! sit her on your lap and sit in the bathroom with a hot shower running & the door closed...the humidity will help. it's so tough when they're sick cause it seems you just can't do anything for them. but if it goes on longer than a week, def take her to the dr. good luck!

Sounds like you are doing everything right. This will pass. Do let the doctor know if she runs a fever above 100.4 (rectal) or if she is not getting better in a couple of days.

While it is not totally recommended, I did let mine sleep (esp. during naps, during the day when I was around) in a car seat because being more vertical helped. Obviously, "nothing but baby" in a crib is the safest form of sleep, but if you are not getting any sleep you can become so exhausted that you are a danger to her. So, if you need to, let her sleep in her swing or carseat until she clears up.

Have you tried the Vicks Steam Vaporizer? It works really well for my daughter.
