Conceiving 2Nd Child... Baby Girl?

For my first we were not trying to get pregnant but one night threw caution to the wind and it happened. The second time I really wanted a september baby and we missed and got november. I wouldn't really say it was harder per say but it did end up taking longer I guess. I have 2 girls and no idea how to make that happen though. Good luck!

It can be more difficult to conceive a subsequent (second, third, etc.) child if you are much older when you try to conceive the subsequent child. Unless you wait another 15+ years, based on what you've said, I don't think that you will have a harder time conceiving a second.

In my case, it was actually easier to conceive the second (live) child. I miscarried twice in my late thirties. I went through many rounds of IVF and ICSI as well as old-fashioned trying to conceive before I finally carried a child to term when I was 40 1/2. I told everyone that I was sure that I could not have any more and that my husband and I were delighted with one. To my amazement, I conceived the second naturally when I was 41 and delivered him just six weeks shy of my 42nd birthday.

Regarding determining the sex of the child, I think that there are a lot of old wives tales out there that some people still believe. Your best chance is PGD with IVF or ICSI if you produce a moderate to large number of embryos of multiple cells (six or more embryos consisting of several cells, at least seven?). Check with a reproductive endocrinologist if you REALLY want to determine the sex of your next biological child. As Joan mentioned, it's expensive. My fertility clinic charged approx. $5,000 for one attempt. I never produced enough embryos of enough cells to be eligible to even try, but I would have turned down the opportunity if I had been eligible. The sex of my child was not that important to me although I had hoped to have a girl. I ended up with two boys who are wonderful.

My second was very easy to conceive, first time was the charm. My husband practically looked at me both times and I got pregnant LOL! If you didn't have any problems conceiving the first, it's likely you won't have problems with the second. I know many women who conceived within 18 mos after their first was born on the first try, even after taking the pill.

You're not superficial to want a baby girl, they are the best (in my opinion)! I have 2 girls (3 yrs and 5 mos) and I would LOVE another girl! I've read many books/websites already posted by other members here and hopefully our 3rd will be another baby girl! Goodluck!

Ok, I ddon't have any input on how to conceive a girl but I can give input on conceiving the second baby. For our first I think it took us all of a year to get pregnant. For the second we wanted them to be about 2 years apart and my husband wanted to have the second one before he was 40. I went off the pill in January and we were pregnant by March. It definitely happened faster than we expected and my daughter will be 2yr and 2 weeks old when the second one arrives.

Go on parents.com. They have an ancient chinese chart that figures out by age and month of conception what you will be having. I know lots of people are skeptical, but everyone who I have checked against it has been right.

In my personal experience, I found it EXTREMELY easy to concieve my second child, and third, and fouth for that matter. My first took four months but my second, right off of birth control, took one try and we were pregnant. In fact, I have gotten pregnant my fastest when I have just barely come off of my birth controls. My third was in a three week gap between the mini pill and the patch and my fourth was in the one single month that my pills ran out unexpectedly. As far as influencing whether you have a girl or boy, I have heard of success in adjusting your foods that you eat to create a more alkaline or acidic body chemistry. I don't remember which one helps with which sex, but I personally know someone that did it and got the gender they were trying for after having four of the opposite sex in a row before that. It is worth researching. Also, maybe take a look at a Chinese calander on what age/month combination is predicted to bring a boy or girl. Kind of superstition, but usually turns out to be true oddly. The only way to guarantee a girl is to do IVF (invitro fertilization) with PGD (preimplantation genetic diagnosis). It's expensive, and usually PGD is only done to prevent you from having a baby with serious/fatal genetic disorders, but in doing so, you can also find out the gender. Good luck, and I wish you a healthy baby, whether it's a boy or a girl. ($150K and 9 IVF cycles under my belt...I would have taken either gender!)

as far as getting pregnant again it is easier to get pregnant with in the first 2 years after having a baby your body is more fertile. i have 3 boys all 18 mos apart and had no problems conceiving any of them.

Method 1 – Shettles

This is the most well known of all the methods for helping a couple to select their babies gender. This particular has been used by couples who want to conceive a girl rather than a boy for more than 30 years now. Although the developer of this method Dr Shettles says it is supported by scientific evidence as being the best, what proof is there that it really does work.

With this particular method one needs to know exactly when the woman is ovulating. Then the couple should make love around 2 to 4 days before ovulation commences or a few days after it has finished.

Method 2 – O+12

This is method was not actually developed by a doctor but rather a mother from Australia who had six sons. For years she had been a devout follower of Dr Shettles method but she then came across the idea that in order to conceive a girl her and her partner would need to make love just after she had ovulated. This is in fact contrary to everything that Dr Shettles advocates. It was using this particular method that this Australian mother finally gave birth to the daughter she was always after.

Actually, I became pregnant right away after coming off the pill. I thought that it would take a while too. I thought it would take some time to get my body prepared, but my doctor told me that she actually perscribes the pill for a few months to women who have trouble concieving, and sometimes that can "kick start" your body. Don't be surprised if it happens right away!

No clue about having a girl -- I have two boys, one of whom (at least) that Chinese calendar mis-guessed. I'm really, really happy to have my two boys. They are three years apart and really good buddies (11 and 14), plus I buy about 25% fewer clothes for my littler one, who loves the hand-me-downs. I'm not faulting you for wanting a girl -- just pointing out that there are some advantages to having two boys (in case that happens).

It took a year to conceive my first and two months to conceive my second. I had been considering fertility treatment for my first, and had received a diagnosis of infertile (was denied health insurance the same month I got pregnant -- luckily, when they saw I was pregnant on the appeal, they covered me).

I did not go back on the pill after my first child because it took so long to conceive him (18 months). I also wanted a girl the second time so I read a book called "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". We used the timing metholds in this book to try for a girl. We also thought it could take a long time the secon time around, given our experience the first time. It was one time on one weekend. We ended up with boy/girl twins. Surprise! I guess it disproved the methods in the book because we got one of each. It was not difficult for us to conceive the second time around but I am not sure if that had more to do with not taking the pill between the pregnancies( I had depo shots for birth control after my first child). I had no trouble conceiving my second child after being on the pill for 3 years (or my first after being on the pill for 7 years). In fact, I called both my due dates at least 18 months before they were born. My boss was pretty impressed with that! <g>

Well I have to say it is different for everyone and every pregnancy! I have heard all kinds of stories of easy to get pregnant, to difficult, or both. Anyway my story was it was incredibly easy to conceive all three of my children. The first two took 1 1/2 months to conceive and baby #3 took all of 3 days off the pill!! I was on the pill before all pregnancies as well. Good luck and God bless!
P.S. They say position matters of intercourse on the sex of your baby, I'm not sure I believe but you could look into that!

May I suggest you purchase the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler? This book shares in detail how to understand when you are most fertile and also how to choose the sex of your baby based on timing of intercourse. It really takes some study of your body, but it can certainly help you achieve your goal.
