I work in a small school and want a fun way to share that I am pregnant with my first child. What are some ways that you have told co-workers or ways that you have found out someone is pregnant.

I brought bagels and cream cheese to work as a morning treat when I was pregnant. And then I sent out the following email:

"I've brought in bagels this morning. Specifically blueberry and cranberry bagels. Even more importantly, BLUE and PINK bagels!!!

Come and partake in my celebration*!

* - For those of you not quite yet awake this rainy Monday morning, I'm celebrating a new baby on the way!!!"

Congratulations!

Hi N.,
I put a small bowl of pink and blue jelly belly jelly beans in a central location with a little sign that said this:

"Could be pink, could be blue,
Someone has something to tell you!"

Then they had to guess who it was. it was fun and everyone enjoyed a little treat.

Have fun sharing your oh so fun news!

Since I was going to be a single mom when I was pregnant, I had to find a cute way to tell my mom I was pregnant so when grandparents day came, I gave her a cute card which had a little chick on it. It took her awhile to figure it out so I got surprise before disappointment. The good news is my mom has come around since then and has been wonderfully supportive of my daughter who is 2 now.

Another way I have seen women show they are pregnant to family members is to buy maternity clothes and show them to the hubby and they don't get it until they see the one with the baby on it.

A friend of mine had purchased a T-shirt that read "Baby Andrews" with an arrow pointing to my belly. We had a potluck at work along with casual day so I was able to wear the shirt to tell my co-workers. It was fun to see peoples reaction, a lot of times you don't notice in detail what someone is wearing so people did a lot of double takes. I know my friend ordered it online, but I don't know what the website was. You could always go to a T-shirt shop or make your own shirt. Congratulations!

With it being Halloween soon, you could wear a black shirt and put a picture of a bun on your belly (or somehow make your shirt look like an oven) and when they as what you are you could tell them you have a bun in the oven.

For Halloween, I dressed up as "a pregnant lady" with a pillow under my shirt. Everyone caught on pretty quickly.

Congratulations and Have Fun!

One of my co-workers did something here in my office that I thought was really cute. She brought in a bag of mini Baby Ruth candy bars and had her husband write on a little card "Who's expecting?" She had her husband write it so people in the office didn't recognize the writing. There were so many people that were trying to figure out what it was and what it meant. Another funny thing that happened with this is that I was pregnant at the time too, but had already announced that I was pregnant. One of the secretaries was just convinced that the Special Events committee had sent that to celebrate my pregnancy. I had to really look at her and convince her that it wasn't from me. It really got a lot of people thinking and wondering who was expecting.

I blurted my pregnancy as I spoke to co-workers but I have a suggestion for you.

You can have a cake made and ask the cake decorator to decorate with pink and blue and put your name on it (maybe an outline of a side view pregnant lady) and then expecting in 2009.

I'd hide the cake and tell everyone to gather because you have a special treat to share with everyone.

I worked in a school when I got pregnant and we always put a treat in the lounge with a sign of guess whose pregnant or expecting, (or getting married) and then everyone walked around all day guessing, it was lots of fun. The only problem was the first two years after I was married and NOT pregnant I was still being asked every time a sign was put up if it was me adn that got old. CONGRATS and have fun!

I said grace on Thanksgiving and the last line I said was "I especially want to thank you for the new life you have entrusted to me, Amen" Everyone looked up and wow, what looks on their faces!
It may not work in a school setting, but maybe this will spark another idea!
Blessings and Congratulations!

When I found out I was preggers with my younger daughter, I went out and bought a white Hanes t-shirt. I then took a black Sharpie to it and simply wrote "Bun in the Oven" on the front with little arrows pointing at my belly. Then I went to my parents and in - laws houses, and walking around all non - chalantly. It took my mom a good 10 minutes before she finally read my shirt. The reactions were priceless!

When I was pregnant with my first, I told my closest friend at work -- we hatched a plan that went like this -- at a staff meeting, she piled a stack of books in front of me (pregnancy and parenting books) and said "here are those books you were asking me for" and sat down. It took about 30 seconds for people's heads to turn sideways to read the titles and then the lightbulbs started going on. It was fun!

I know this is on old post but we found out around Easter. We made little chicks out of yellow cotton balls(with wiggly eyes and orange feet) and put them inside Easter eggs with a piece of paper that said "There's going to be a new peep in the Smith house".

A friend of mine dressed her belly for Halloween. She wore an orange shirt with a jack o lantern face on her belly. It was cute and most people caught on right away.

Congrats,

Use Cuteness= You could always use the tried and true cute pregnancy shirt... I had a shirt that said "Baby (then my last name) Under Construction" that was just adorable.

Use Sarcasm= You could appoligize to them- IE- you say-I'm really sorry. They say- for what? You say -For leaving you around (enter due date). I'll totally help you find a replacement... They freak out thinking you're quitting... teeheehee! Then you just kinda go with it and drag it out as long as you want before tellin them. :)

Use School Related Stuff= You could ask if there's any registration forms for children for the year (enter date child would be the age for your school) and when they ask why- just tell them you're trying to plan ahead. If my baby's born (due date) then I'm gonna need one for that year...

Use Simplicity= Grin from ear to ear all day and when people ask why- tell them "Our students take tests all the time, but rarely do we get to take tests and be truely delighted with positive results! I'm pregnant!"

CONGRADULATIONS! :)

Depending on what age you work with and if you want the students to know. You could have a couple of students from other classrooms walk in and loudly talk about you being pregnant. The students would get a kick out of it and it would make the other teachers really think if it is true or not.

Student 1: Did you hear Miss N. is going to have a baby?
Student 2: Yeah! I think it's so cool, I hope she has a boy/girl!
Student 1: Really cool...and she'll have the baby over summer break so we won't miss out on her being in school!

Something like that!
