Hey guys, I am gonna ask this to you guys, but as soon as the pediatrician's office opens at 8am I am calling them as well. My daughter was camping with her dad last weekend and came home with a tick on her head. It was not imbedded and honestly I had never seen a tick up close before so I plucked it off with tweezers ( I got the whole thing) and my husband disposed of it. My daughter is 7 1/2yr so I didn't want to freak her out about it. I cleaned it and put antibiotic ointment on the pin-sized area. Last night she woke up with flu-like symptoms(fever, achy, and threw up twice). Now last week I had a bout with vomitting and had to come home from work, but no fever. I am afraid of Lyme Disease now. I am calling the doctor this morning, but I just wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this? There is no rash at the site or any other area on her body. Thank you so much for your words of wisdom and prayers. The doctor felt she just had a virus like I had last week and it was just a coincidence that it happened after the tick bite. She told me the signs to look for and my daughter was feeling better by today. Thank you all again. You are all so great!

Just to let you know for the next time. Take a q-tip or contton ball, soak it with rubbing alcohol, and apply it over the tick. The tick will usually back itself out so that you don't have to pull it out and risk leaving the head in. Also, seed ticks- coat vasilene over the bite area. It smothers the tick.
I have not had this problem. but I just want to tell you I hope she is ok. I will say prayer for her. please let us know what you find out. A.
Not sure. I think from what I remember you can tell the ticks that carry the disease...but it has been so long that I am not sure. There is a flu going around. My daughter had it Thursday through Saturday. But be safe not sorry...What did you find out?
I have read that there is usually a bulls-eye rash around where the tick was embedded. My son had a tick in his head at Alpine park once.
If you have the tick they recommend keeping (like in a baggy in the freezer) it so it can be tested too if needed. Just FYI for the future or for others in this situation. Sore achey joints fever and rash all go hand in hand with Lyme Disease. Following up with a doctors office as soon as your able- since she is having some of these symptoms is the best bet. They will probably run some blood work to see if her labs are normal. My prayers are with you.
Just to put your mind at ease, there are only 1 or 2 actual reported cases of Lyme Diese in the state of Missouri.
It's probably nothing, but when my son had a tick bite on his scrotum and ended up having a non-related high fever, I still took him in, ended up in the ER and had the peace of mind to know that the high fever was non-related. So I would still go to the doctor and have them check it out. It's probably nothing, but better safe than sorry.
The doc always told me to watch for rash in the area or red streaks. But I would definately have her checked.
