For one child, it tends to be nannies are most expensive, a child care center next and home child care is less expensive. With multiple children, a nanny could be a less expensive option. As has been said, you generally get what you pay for. There are pros and cons to it all though, so you need to figure out what is best for your family. Home child cares around here (not being far from Naperville) ranges from $125-$250/week for full time. But then the type of care/setup structure ranges SOO much as well so you really don't want to base it on price alone of course. Most important is finding care you can fully trust to be a support in raising your child. I was a nanny before I had kids, I worked in a center before my second was born and now I've been a home child care provider for 4.5 years now that I have 2 children of my own so I've been on the staff side of all of them, so if you want to discuss pros and cons of each, I'd be happy to. Part time is also more expensive per day than full time per day so prices REALLY depend on what you are looking for. The range you are asking about could be anywhere from $20 to over $100 per day depending on what you are considering. Best wishes to you as the information can be a little overwhealming at first. Feel free to contact me if you want to talk more specific options, resources, or such in figuring it all out.

I live in downtown Naperville and pay $11 per hour for a nanny to care for my one child. She does much more than care for my child, however. She takes my daughter to her activities, does all of our family laundry, presses clothes, runs errands, does household chores I ask her to complete, etc. She is basically helping to manage the household as well as care for my child. Most expect a $1/hr increase for each additional child.

The rate will also be different depending on how you set up the agreement - paying taxes or cash, etc.

I am in Southern Plainfield, so I am LOWER
My prices per week are $185 for infants, $175 for over 12 mos but not yet potty trained and then $150 once potty trained. I know on the Northern end of Plainfield I could get another $10 to $30 a week for all those ages.

Nanny will run you at least $10 an hour.

Do not go with the cheapest - you get what you pay for, really.

In the west side of Bolingbrook, I drop off my daughter to an at-home daycare that I LOVE! It's small and she'll take my daughter in a day-to-day basis. I pay $35 day for the drop off and it would be $30 per day or $150 a week if she's there the whole week. That's because I am occasional during the season my husband works a lot. She charges $145/wk for potty trained kids and $150/wk for diapers. She feeds them breakfast and lunch and snacks. She's DCFS certified and does the food program so all of the foods are very healthy and balanced. She's full right now, but hopefully that gives you something to look for.
